That Open for You song is the song equivalent of one of those shiny beach posters with the poem about Jesus carrying him the whole way being the reason there is only one set of foot prints.

Love the Triffids, but this is not their best (first major label release). Way overproduced. Their best is Born Sandy Devotional or In The Pine. Funny thing is the expanded version of In The Pines contains several of the songs from Calenture in a stripped down setting and they are much better.

There's nothing bad about this album. But there's also not anything particularly interesting. Reminds me of the indie band The Goon Sax.

as someone upthread said, born sandy devotional is the triffids' masterpiece, while in the pines runs a close second

Apple off. This was their major label debut.

It reminds me of Gang of Youths. It was definitely better in the second half. Region unknown was the standout for me. The opener, the one I mentioned above and Blinder by the Hour just played like bad CCM.

Can’t recommend Born Sandy Devotional enough. One of my top 10 albums. Wide Open Road is an absolute corker of a song. The first time I listened to Gang of Youths I could hear the Triffids influence.
