Day 9 - You spent how much?
Play an album you spent a lot of money on
I think this clocks in at the most I've ever paid for a single album, ended up being around 90$ Canadian, but it was worth it. One of my favorite records to spin and just chill out
De La Soul - Stakes is High (2LP European Original)
Day 9 ~ you spent... What?
Wang wen 惘闻 ~ course of the miraculous
I'm not always a completionist, but certain bands pull me in and Wang wen is one of them. This is a fully improvised 4x10 vinyl set with 33pages of art and a DVD that they made during their recording of the soundtrack to this movie.
I spent 91$ on the vinyl and $25 on shipping...Worth it...Oh hell yes
Day 10 - IT'S A LIMITED EDITION!!!
Play something marketed at limited
This band had an Indiegogo campaign years back to fund money so they could afford a new van to tour with. The pink vinyl was one of the rewards for donating "X" amount. Ended up being limited to 300, and eventually got to see them in my city at one of the best shows and venues I've ever been a part of!
I could have picked from a wide assortment of records to spin, because everything seems to be "limited" one way or another these days. But this feels truly limited and special!
Pile - You're Better Than This (Salmon Pink Vinyl, Ltd. 300)
Day 11 - There's a full moon tonight.
Play something related to the moon and/or night time
@TenderLovingKiller® it was a tough choice between this and the Waterboys, but it's been foreeeever since I've spun this one.
Probably Cudi's best album front to back. I wish Emile went on to produce more records, because the instrumentals on this are just fantastic!
Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager
Waking up and hearing of a brand new emo vinyl subscription Chaotic Bunny record club, got me thinking of how badly this needs a reissue. I love Craig Owens and got the chance to meet him once at warped tour and if I find the photo I'll upload it here.
Taking away box sets or multiple LP sets, I really try not to spend a lot for an album. I don't think I've spent more than $100, but this one was probably close. This was an Electronic Bay buy 10 or so years ago when I got back into records, but I believe it was still under this $100 cap I've given myself, I think it was around $90 with shipping from UK.
I really don't get the point of having a release be individually numbered, but not give out the total pressed. I can't really say I'm a fan of individual numbering either - as it really serves no purpose. It isn't like #1 was the first copy pressed.
Not a fan of artificial limited editions, either - as FOMO is just another marketing gimmick.
This mono release was made because the original stereo mix couldn't create a mono fold-down for radio without phasing issues - so they made this mix.
Paul And Linda McCartney – Ram MPL/Hear Music – HRM-33452-01, 1971/2012
Mono
#6133
Pressed at Optimal
For the record, the stereo mix is a much better listen....this one just sounds flat and lifeless.
