Day 17 ~ oh that smells nice

Menomena ~ I am the fun blame monster

Just came in the mail today, one of my top ten favorite bands of all time and one of the reasons I originally signed up for VMP (because they had done a menomena release) I felt I could trust them to choose good music. Anyways I already have a copy of this but needed the c and d sides so this was an insta grab for me

Day 18 ~ thanks for spreading the knowledge

George Harrison ~ all things must pass

Parents were huge Beatles fans, especially Lennon and Harrison, they would play this when I was a kid and at that time it was 'cool' to not like what they liked. little did I know my music tastes would evolve and I would also become a huge fan of their music, especially Harrison's. ....

While my guitar gently weeps is the best Beatles song

Day 14: Soundtrack

I only have one real soundtrack, Dylan's Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, but I'm kind of sick of playing that one for this challenge every time. So I'll play this instead. I think it was a cover by the Good Lovelies, but "Waitin' 'Round to Die" soundtracks a particularly affecting scene in one of my favourite shows, Breaking Bad.

It's a shame this pressing isn't good.

Day 18 - They did know some good music.
Play an album your parents listened to.

Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

My mom has stated numerous times that Elton John is her favorite musician, and reinforced her feelings after seeing him live ~5 years ago. My dad also enjoys his music. The deep cuts on here ("I've Seen That Movie Too," "All the Girls Love Alice," "Sweet Painted Lady") are some of my favorites.

Day 19 - jazz

Kenny Burrell - Have Yourself a Soulful Little Christmas

A triple whammy of fresh grab today, Christmas and not least jazz. I've wanted this for a long time but never could find it in shops so had to buy it from Russia of all places. Sounds cracking though - fab album of Christmas standards by perhaps my favourite jazz guitarist.

I found an OG copy that was VG at best at a local store and couldn't make myself pull the trigger for 26 bucks. It looks like there has been a reissue, maybe I'll try to find that. I haven't heard this but I love both Burrell and Christmas music. As I type this I'm wondering if I should just go get it.
