Because MM cares about the product a bit more than the bottom line it seems? They pay more attention to detail? They communicate and coordinate things so they have the best possible product at a premium price? VMP should have known that jazz record collectors are some of the finicky record collectors out there. They should have known that using a blown up CD cover as album artwork with the completely wrong credits on back would have caused a stir. Hell, they reprinted the Queen record because of a much smaller error.TBH as someone who didn't order because of price - the colours on the jacket would make me feel like I got shafted. They priced these on par with Music Matters - how did Music Matters manage to get their jacket right?
Yes, the color is off but not quite as drastic as those two you posted. It's definitely more red than orange though. It does NOT say stereo on the jacket. It says stereo on the blue note labels on the vinyl themselves though.View attachment 1610

So that Horace Silver jacket color is way off eh? And it still says stereo on the jacket? Even though they claimed it's a mono pressing? Can anyone confirm?
Courtesy @Lee Newman for the VMP pic.
They confirmed that this was supposedly the mono cut though correct? I know we went through this with them? So either the labels are wrong or they lied again...Yes, the color is off but not quite as drastic as those two you posted. It's definitely more red than orange though. It is a mono cut confirmed again by VMP and it sure does sound like mono to me. Seems like just a mistake with the label on the record itself. The label looks somewhat like this from what I recall (not in front of it right now) where it says STEREO LONG PLAYING:They confirmed that this was supposedly the mono cut though correct? That one isn't as egregious as the entire album cover being incorrect hah. It honestly does suck that they didn't double-check this stuff because the records themselves sound incredible. It seems that VMP as a whole is incredibly understaffed in all the wrong places.S.M.H.

Understaffing and no QC is how...we've seen that customer service is criminally understaffed and now are realizing that other parts are as well. VMP cares way more about the bottom line than the do anything else at this point. I think their own CEO said something to the effect of "if it doesn't make us money, we don't need it".Not directly related but it reminds me a lot of the Goodie Mob situation.. like how do you get to the point of records being received and reviewed by your customers before anyone notices its cut at 45rpm?
I totally agree it's not as bad, but this is a specific topic about this specific album (stereo vs mono) that we asked for clarification on over and over and after all that they still messed it up. We brought this to their attention MONTHS ago. How... HOW does this make it through after all that? That one isn't as egregious as the entire album cover being incorrect hah. Ron Jeremy is offended by your comment....apparently one guy got hired cause he posted record reviews to Tumblr?
To be fair, you don't need to have previous experience in the industry to be able to ask if something is mono or stereo, when the customers ask you to relay that question. You can learn that details matter in any industry; these people seemed not to have learned it at any of their previous jobs.I'm not sure understaffing is really the problem so much as it is hiring a bunch of people with no previous experience in the industry. I'm not going to throw people under a bus but apparently one guy got hired cause he posted record reviews to Tumblr? And that qualifies you to run a record club how exactly?
I just mean that I've seen much smaller labels (granted, doing a fraction of the business but probably just as many releases) that have had none of these problems.

Really? Who? ***Rethinks his tumblr.***I started to mount a little bit of a defense of Storf here before I remembered that this actually applies to more than one of their staff members.
Yea--I guess you're right about it being more inexperience than anything else. I took it as them expanding too soon without having enough people to pay attention to all the details as they keep launching new products. But you're 100% correct. I've seen much smaller labels who have produced high quality pressings without any of the issues. And if there are issues, they make it right. I'll use SAM Records as an example, one of my favorite reissue labels. Pretty sure it is run by 1 guy but his attention to detail is impeccable. Every tiny thing is thought out and reproduced faithfully, the quality is amazing in every aspect of production and pressing. You can really see how much he loves jazz and cares about the quality vs VMP who puts out a product and waits to see if people put up enough of a stink to fix it.I'm not sure understaffing is really the problem so much as it is hiring a bunch of people with no previous experience in the industry.
