Vinyl Me Please Anthology

So my whole post was removed and I received this message:

"The proper channel for any issues or questions is anthology@vinylmeplease.com. We've heard your feedback and are continuing to work with Blue Note on what's possible to address concerns around the Dexter Gordon jacket and will update as we have more information. We built this community for discussion around music, label history, & as a shared space for people who are passionate about jazz."

I reported their group for harassment. Not accepting feedback about a project they created a group for is harassment.

Vinyl in general is an expensive thing to get into. I regularly see people paying $50 for rap LPs that have digital sources. The new Tyler the Creator album was $40 with shipping. At least with these and some other jazz audiophile pressings, the sourcing is from analogue tape and some of these albums really sound like the band is playing in the same room as you. The pressings have zero surface noise as well. I understand that it's not for everybody and I'm not one to exclusively buy these types of pressings but to call it super overpriced and a crap ton of money for 7LPs is just a bit subjective.

That is their competition. This is the standard they are being held to and it is a very similar price point.

Yea--I just mean outside of the cover fiasco, this was not an overpriced product IMO when comparing to those other competitors. It's not a bargain, but it's in line with what those others cost. MM is a superior product as of now because of the sleeves though even though I think the mastering and pressing quality is very similar on both.

Right, I just mean it's a bit disingenuous to say that people were paying $50 a record for this product when nobody actually paid that. The early bird price was at the upper end of what I was willing to spend on this and I probably would have skipped out if it was at $280 initially.

That’s the beauty of this situation. You really have no recourse as it is one of the rules of the group which you agreed to abide by when joining.

On the forums, we could rally behind you and it makes them look worse. On Facebook they can delete at will and block all dissenters and it all fades from view.

I quoted rules and used it as my justification in my latest post, it will probably be my third strike and I will become an observer from here on

I'm just saying if they weren't doing jazz where this is almost naturally done (i dunno what 50 dollar rap LPs you are reffering to but that tyler albums on vinyl have always been expensive and limited edition). i feel a better price would have been like 150 or so

You are literally their best customer and this is how they are treating you. If you had a friend, that was supporting a company the way you were and they were treated like this...
 
Well, I worked all night and so I've been asleep the last 6 hours or so and now I wake up to all dissent being silenced and my post and many others deleted. I find it to be highly disgusting that only fawning adulation will be accepted on the FB group. We are there to talk about jazz and have fun sure, but we are also there to talk about the anthology and our reaction to it when we receive it. The fact that they appear to have bowed to the ridiculous people who think that no one should have any criticism that a premium product they paid for doesn't meet the standard that anyone knowledgeable on the situation would expect is repulsive.

Before I went to sleep, Cam sent me a FB message wanting to call me. I said I thought it would be better to wait until after I slept. I'm not sure now how anything constructive could come from a phone call, especially given the fact that things were made worse.

People asked them to define what "we're looking to create a better community" meant and, now, they are.

hmm.. this could actually be very useful for explaination and you could even bring up the post removal, but at the same time this could end up being hostile

These mess ups make me feel a bit better but sound quality still reported as awesome so not really.

Most importantly, I’ve learned from this thread that I need this Vinyl Junkies fellow in my life. Like IN in my life. I’m a masochist btw so they pretty much sound like a wet dream to me.
