Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Logistically, whether they actually do something or not, I don't expect an answer for at least a few days. I've said my part on the Facebook group (thread now deleted, but it was read I'm sure), so I'll sit back and wait for my package to arrive.
Yep. People rightfully raised a stink and VMP knows there is an issue. They are hopefully pricing out a sleeve reprint or figuring out something else to make it right. I'm okay with giving them a little time to sort it. I expect they will not make it right and post some bullshit corporate speak but in the meantime, I'll enjoy the music and just try not to look at the sleeves haha

The fact is that they reprinted the Queen sleeve for a much smaller misprint. If they can't reprint 1,000 sleeves of 1 record that cost way more for us to buy, then they need to find another way to make it up to us.
I had posted a quote from their response to the Queen issue on my FB thread and one of the big people who had been wanting everyone to just shut up about it commented that this was actually a good point and that maybe he was changing his mind on the issue. I saw his post saying that just a little while before all such discussion was deleted. Convenient?

Yes, the Queen printing error is a good point. This is arguably a bigger deal and on a much smaller scale so it SHOULD be fixable however... Queen was a "printing error", Dexter Calling was actually done on purpose, which is why I suspect there will not be a re-print of the jackets. If they're smart they absolutely should print proper jackets, assuming the rest of them in the box are correct this would make the problem go away for the most part. But I'm through trying to figure out how or why they do things so I have no godly idea if they will go this route. I hope for everyone who purchased that they do.

Do we know if VMP actually had to eat any cost on that Queen reprint through? Like was it a mistake with the printing company or was is VMP’s fault? This situation seems deliberate as in the design team actually wanted this back cover for this release whereas the Queen seems like a slight screw up at the printing plant. VMP may not have had to pay much if anything to reprint those sleeves if it wasn’t their fault.

Exactly, if they just eat the cost and reprint the sleeves, they will have happy customers and if everything goes fine the rest of the way, I’ll be a happy customer with my money well spent. If they keep fucking this up I’m never buying an anthology from them again.

I think I do remember them actually owning up to the mistake of not checking the proof properly and that they did pay for the reprint, but I could be wrong.

I don't recall hearing anything beyond "it was a formatting error that occurred when the file was sent". So last I heard they didn't really take responsibility for it, just blamed the machines. But perhaps that changed later I'm not sure. But seeing how often this sort of thing happens with them I'm going to assume it was likely on their end.

Still has literally nothing to do with it. No one is entitled to have their voice heard.

I believe individual communities on Facebook are also allowed to make their own standards on the platform. You could call it "censorship", sure, but no one's right to free speech is being impinged.
You're obviously quite clued up about it, whereas I'm not, I only read the definition below, your honour! Not sure about the legal jargon but maybe I'm thinking it's censorship when it isn't.

freedom of speech
noun
  1. the power or right to express one's opinions without censorship, restraint, or legal penalty
Imagine my surprise when I spread the teachings of Lucifer at the catholic school I attended. They immediately silenced me and sentenced me to 3 prayings of the rosary. Where was my freedom of speech?! /sarc

You have freedom of speech as it pertains to the government. The government isn't deleting your comments. A private entity like Facebook or VMP is allowed to have its own community standards that people agree to when they sign up.

Obligatory "I'm not a lawyer."
I actually am a lawyer. There is an analysis that can apply to "semi-public forums". I don't think it likely that forum that is part of a paid subscription would be one. This is more of a civil law issue, and if they did not have you agree to terms and conditions regarding censorship when you subscribed, there is probably a colorable argument that they have breached the sales contract. I have NO idea how far anyone would get with that, and the amount of damages is like teeny tiny. Vote with your wallet...? I guess?

The right to freedom of speech does not just apply to the government in a "semi-public forum", but that's a whole complicated thing. For example, Facebook itself is probably always toeing that line.

Disclaimer: The above shall not be construed etc. etc. I am not YOUR attorney.

Not that it's fully on point, but how would y'all feel if the number was on a stick on the shrink wrap.... *cough* Floating Points *cough*
I would feel the same way I do about a lazy afterthought like hand-numbering with a Sharpie at the last minute... Or I’d feel as though I paid a premium price for a premium product and received what amounts to a high school science project that’s finished the night before it’s due, with many aspects of it being “just good enough” to get a D

So I ordered the limited white vinyl press from LNT directly before the VMP one was announced and I ended up with both. The LNT one also had the number listed on a sticker on the front of the album IIRC.
