Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I really do like the whole staggering the records idea for this anthology, it's a really interesting idea. I'm mostly annoyed that they sold it as this "experience" and so far it's been a dud.

God I kind of hate myself for typing this but I really hope they do it again. Guess I'm not mad enough to not give them more money.

Assuming the rest of the box isn't such a shitshow...

My package arrived today and I have to say they've done a fantastic job with the packaging. The box is damn sexy. I'm number 500!

I wouldn't have noticed the mistakes on the covers because I'm not as big a nerd as you lot :geek: but now I know about them I'm obviously disappointed. It's a premium priced product, everything should be perfect. Can't wait to give them a spin this evening!

Been lurking on here a while. Received boxes last week.

In addition to the mono/stereo bit and the screwed up fronts and covers, mine also came with:
  1. Torn A side label on Horace
  2. Torn outer sleeve on Dexter
The podcast is also a piece of 22 minute garbage. And these articles are all old and barely relevant.

This whole thing reeks of VMP shitting the bed. I'd been considering ordering some of the VMP Blue Note stuff recently, but I'm now way less interested. There also some noticeable slip ups in the audio as well.
Tone Poets is doing a way better job handling things.

You should ask for replacements, that sucks. And welcome to the forum! Keep posting!

I have three of the four Blue Notes VMP did previously and they're all very good, to be fair. Not that I had any interest in the Anthology, or know whether the covers were messed up at all on those, but they all sound very good.

We couldn’t be more excited that Blue Note Anthology records have started arriving this week. The feedback we’ve received has been tremendous and we’re certain that you’ll continue to enjoy the story of Blue Note as you dig into each album.
That said, you may have noticed the artwork on the back of Dexter Gordon’s ‘Dexter Calling' was incorrect. We were able to track down the original vinyl artwork and will be reprinting the jackets to deliver to all Anthology members as soon as possible. We are working on a precise timeline for when new jackets will be delivered and will expedite this process as much as possible. Please understand the printing process can take as little as four weeks, or as many as ten weeks.
We take full ownership and apologize to everyone for not catching this during our quality control process. While the production process is remarkably complex and involves several stakeholders, we make no excuses and are committed to working harder and doing better. Thank you for your understanding and continued support for Vinyl Me, Please.

While it never should have come to this with more careful planning on VMP's part, I am very glad they are doing this. Looks like our constructive criticism paid off.

Glad they owned up that they fucked up despite the apology being a lot of corporate speak that ultimately means nothing. You somehow magically were able to track down the original artwork in a few days after working on the project for months and never being able to find it? The production process is complex and several stakeholders are involved so nobody caught a pretty huge mistake? "You may have noticed the artwork on the back is incorrect"? Uh doy...the artwork on the front is incorrect too...

Anywho, just glad that they are fixing the issue hopefully. I would really laugh and then cry though if they mess up the front again after reprinting.

I'm so fucking happy right now!

Totally doesn't sound like an excuse!
I actually don't think it does, tbh. Had they gone into a more drawn-out, long-winded explanation, I would have raised an eyebrow. All things considered, it's the best outcome - corporate wordsmithing aside. ;)
