Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Yeah, this whole debacle had me rekindling my appreciation for The Original Mono Recordings, a case where the attention to detail was off the charts (exact replica jackets, down to tip-on vs. non tip-on, exact replica labels, exact replica sleeves, exact replica inserts, etc.).
Ugh why'd you have to say that...it's currently on sale at Amazon for $141 shipped and I have been looking at excuses not to buy it...

Email from VMP just now:

We couldn’t be more excited that Blue Note Anthology records have started arriving this week. The feedback we’ve received has been tremendous and we’re certain that you’ll continue to enjoy the story of Blue Note as you dig into each album.
That said, you may have noticed the artwork on the back of Dexter Gordon’s ‘Dexter Calling' was incorrect. We were able to track down the original vinyl artwork and will be reprinting the jackets to deliver to all Anthology members as soon as possible. We are working on a precise timeline for when new jackets will be delivered and will expedite this process as much as possible. Please understand the printing process can take as little as four weeks, or as many as ten weeks.
We take full ownership and apologize to everyone for not catching this during our quality control process. While the production process is remarkably complex and involves several stakeholders, we make no excuses and are committed to working harder and doing better. Thank you for your understanding and continued support for Vinyl Me, Please.

I hope the "We were able to track down the original vinyl artwork and will be reprinting the jackets" means the front too

Literally already there are people commenting saying they knew all along VMP would make it right and at least one of them is someone who wanted everyone to stop all the comment about the cover because he "just cares about the music".

Like...are you really that blind that you dont see the initial response was silence because they either didnt know they did something wrong or hoped no one would notice, then the response of saying that this wasn't a mistake but something they did on purpose after trying other options and finding it impossible, then now somehow finding a way to make it right.

GEE, I WONDER HOW WE GOT TO THIS RESOLUTION??

Yeah, goddamn, I didn't know this existed. $211 up here but that's still a pretty damn good deal. Hmm....

Well I’m glad I only read like 10 of the previous pages before jumping to the end to see what’s going on, haha. Just got my box delivered today, probably one of the last ones left

I should be getting mine today too.

Glad they gave the appropriate response to our feedback. Can't wait to spin these records today. Wish I had the booklet to read on them though...

Well I'm really happy they're making it right.

But the way they handled it until now sucked.

Getting rid of the forums sucked.

The "experience" sucks (still).

But at the very very least, they're fixing the mostly absurdly egregious error, and like @johnpisme mentioned, there's no fucking way in hell that would've happened if people hadn't freaked out about it. They knew what they were doing. They just hoped we wouldn't notice / wouldn't care / thought it was no big deal / etc etc. Clearly there was a big enough uproar though and that's good. Good for everyone that got pissed and took it seriously.

Good for me especially!

A lot of people will say this, but I was viewing it as a good possibility that they'd do reprints. I think everyone being vocal on here and elsewhere and raising a ruckus is to thank.

But, in the alternative, imagine if VMP started an anthology, had seriously screwed up the first package on the first record, and never done a reprint. Not only would they have they turned away what has to be 1,000 of their strongest subscribers, they also would have completely tarnished the Anthology reputation.

I'm holding out faith that they're going to get better at this. And despite the shitty Facebook group, turd of a podcast, and total lack of contests, the quality of these first two records is not terrible. It's not entirely a lost venture.

As they learn how to properly execute a project like this, though, VMP would do well to do something way less demanding and with less of a ravenous fan base. If we find out that #2 is Chess, that's going to be like waking up and deciding that because you can't play professional baseball, you'll be a professional football player instead.

Comments like "just care about the music" make me laugh. If that's true then stream it. Heck, go big and stream it via lossless files or whatever. THIS IS A VINYL CLUB. You know, vinyl. ("We talkin about vinyl man - like Allen Iverson). The medium making a comeback because people like a physical copy of something that they can connect with. Sheesh.
