The Story of Cadet Records
VMP Anthology 16 is devoted to one of the most forward-thinking, far-out labels of all time: Cadet Records.

on the one hand, that's kinda pricy. on the gripping hand, that dorothy ashby is incredibly hard to find and the cheapest copy on 'cogs right now is 100+.Doesn't look like it's live yet. Hope there's an additional discount for members/past Anthology purchasers because right now at $350 it comes to about $44 a record.
This info has me getting tempted..."Lacquers for all titles except for Electric Mud — which was cut AAA by Barry Grint at Alchemy Mastering — were cut by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Of those cut by Grundman, all were mastered AAA with the exception of Side B of Mother Nature’s Son, which was transferred from the master tapes and cut from a digital source to amend a passage of tape degradation. All eight titles are pressed on 180g black vinyl at GZ."
Good details on sourcing
Member price and past anthology coupon discounts no longer stack. So looking like 350 is the cheapest price for nowDoesn't look like it's live yet. Hope there's an additional discount for members/past Anthology purchasers because right now at $350 it comes to about $44 a record.
That's my thing. I have afro harping and electric mud ..... but.Well, this is as good as it can be for a Cadet anthology. A minor complaint is that some of these had recent reissues (and I have them), but I could always use more AAA Grundman reissues.
How's your electric mud? If I could get a good enough of that one I could be happy enough. That's my thing. I have afro harping and electric mud ..... but.
I briefly had one of the third man pressings and moved on from it because my copy was so crackly.I have the third man version of electric mud. This is a new master? I'm probably on this

Yeah I know and I really want Afro Harping so… that store credit I’ve been hoarding for the eternally delayed Impulse set might get put to use here instead.on the one hand, that's kinda pricy. on the gripping hand, that dorothy ashby is incredibly hard to find and the cheapest copy on 'cogs right now is 100+.
I wonder if these are getting reissued elsewhere.
Thats why am hoping it goes live mid December. I can the swap Bob for credit and I will have almost $200 in credits.Man, this one is tempting.
Pros: Really nice mix of hard to find classic albums (Tell Mama, Afro-Harping, Occasional Rain), with some deeper cuts that I'm not as familiar with (but sound interesting on an initial stream). Nice mastering details.
Downsides: GZ pressed. Ships in May. Cost ($350 for 8 albums + $20 Shipping + Duty & Brokerage Fees x conversion to Canadian $), already have a copy of Electric Mud.
Might ask the wife to order me this for Christmas...
VMP did not extend the sale on anthologies.Wasn't Vanguard supposed to be $167? Came up as $239 last night when my wife ordered for a Christmas gift.
Got this email 4 days ago and it said sale was on this week only. I've emailed CS to find out what gives.VMP did not extend the sale on anthologies.
