Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I know im really late to the party but I just wanted to sing my praises for the Tribe box.

So well done, thick glossy jackets, flat records (certainly the first 2 anyway and the other from a visual inspection), what looks to be a great booklet (cant wait to read that). The first 2 albums sound fantastic and it's the exact kind of reissue that I love to get as the originals are just out of range in both price, rarity, and the fact that I'm in the UK.

I don't want to jinx it but I have had no issues yet which, compared with the numerous replacements I needed for the Herbie box, is a miracle!

It is a great box. The Anthologies have gotten a lot better starting with this one.

Does anyone know if the Anthology podcasts were unloaded anywhere other than the VMP website? Im trying to listen to the Tribe podcasts but they arent currently loading, the download option leads to a dead link, and it looks like they have been taken down?
They have all moved to Spotify and Apple Podcasts

Archie Shepp not in an Impulse records anthology is really something. Is that an oversight? After John Coltrane, Shepp no doubt has the most dates as a leader on the label. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. I don’t include Sun Ra because most of those records weren’t Impulse albums initially.

I really hate how cost prohibitive Anthologies are…
Try living outside the US. Add the $20 shipping (which is reasonable) and the duties that we get hit with now VMP has changed their shipping method. The Cadet box ended up being well over $500CDN by the time it landed on my front steps.

At least the Impulse one is so anti-climatic I am not interested at all. At this point I cannot imagine a box set that VMP could put together that I would be interested in to make the cost worth it.

This is why the only anthology I own is Vanguard.
Black Friday deal brought it down to somewhat affordable, then shipping and duties made it slightly expensive.

I would be all over this at a lower price point, instead I may just look for the ones I want out of the set.

Do you remember how much it was on BF?

VMP doing what VMP does best.
Yup.
If I recall correctly, it was advertised as $167 on BF and the wording was pretty much that was the price all week....BUT there was no 'end' date on the email. Just BF sales, all week. I had my eye on it and my wife suggested she get it for me for a Christmas gift. Finally was going to pull the trigger and noticed it was back to the normal pricing, but wife was still okay and I knew I fucking had them dead to rights anyway so I bought it and then immediately emailed CS being like 'hey, what gives?'. They didn't put up a fight thankfully and immediately refunded the diff.

Anyway, I've been complaining even before that, that VMP's copy is always going to be the thing that does them in. They word things so ambiguously that they leave themselves open to getting nailed left right and centre.
