Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I cannot believe how badly this release has gone down. Constant errors. The hype man. The nonsense of the week after week of teasing. The price point. I think they should lick their wounds and wait before the next release goes down. And if they want actual impartial insight don’t go to a paid hype man, check the customer service messages for people with ears who have an appreciation and spend their own money on the product.

They are contacting @Enoch for his opinion? Good. I’d rather they contact him than Vinyl Junkies, there are others on this forum who could also be used as a sounding board. Contact the people who have cancelled accounts after spending thousands of dollars on their product, see where you went wrong and fix it. The profiles on Reddit snapping at anyone who makes a slight criticism fool no one. How they keep destroying their brand by being tone deaf to customers amazes me! I think that members who are consulted should get some sort of credit system for their time and support.

But I also believe VMP keeps a close eye on this forum. They know what we are saying and know the problems we are having.
They don’t really need customers to directly tell them as it is written here, although they may have to read it through their fingers with gritted teeth as this forum has been even less complimentary to their brand than the previous, which I think is their fault, they misjudged the depth and passion of the community.

Changing the replacement policy is nonsense - change the quality control, people will need less replacements. Closing the forum was nonsense - the forum members have turned generally on them as a result, hype of albums and products has died completely and yet the spirit of those who were branched loyally under them has evolved into a group branched against them.

I’ve been playing a lot of non-VMP records this weekend. No warps. Great sound. No skips. I have enough records to know when one sucks, I don’t need a coin test. I suppose though members with record collections into thousands are not their main base.

I do wonder if there would have been a healthy way to close down the forum as I can tell you the way they did didn't seem thought out and yes that was obviously the breaking point for many and understandably so. I too assume they do lurk around here to see what is going on. I wonder if that is part of their reaching out to people on the FB group.

that is why I waited a week to agree to the call, I am pretty sure it wouldn't have been very civil at least not the level I would be comfortable with as I know how I get when I feel things are not right/fair and tend to have an overzealous sense of justice/fairness that isn't always kind to the other person on a phone call.
I didn't know it at the time, but no amount of waiting would have helped me. The way they handled the Dexter jacket (offering 3 different versions of what happened and then only replacing it after intense pressure that they deleted and allowed to be met with harassment that continues to this day) was just the beginning. They let that group deteriorate into a complete shithole and I don't understand why. The only thing I see is that the people who brought the whole vibe down with their antagonization also praise VMP at every opportunity. Sometimes both insulting another member while simultaneously praising the company. The narrative now is that, sure there were some problems but VMP handled themselves great and got out in front of everything and made everyone happy, even though this is absolutely not how things went down. It seems their method worked.

They definitely lurk on here. And if they don’t they are the stupidest company that ever existed. Your members/disgruntled ex-members gather together to discuss your product and those of your rivals and you don’t check in? That’s either total arrogance that you are in the right and don’t need a whole section of your customers or total stupidity by a company heading towards the edge of a cliff. I don’t think they post but they know what is said.

The reason they reached out to me was I had made the major post on FB directly asking them about the Dexter jacket. They messaged me right before they deleted it.

I would have loved a copy of Schizophrenia and had this Anthology in my basket but the price point as an international member was too much but I wished this venture luck and would maybe, maybe jump in if there was something enticing. However, since the announcement I am so glad as every change the company has made has been detrimental to their relationship with customers. It could have been so good, which is the frustrating thing.

You really can't believe it? C'mon now... c'mon. I bought this anthology and I'm not upset. Historically I've been extremely critical of VMP. I subscribed for three years. If they were going to change, they'd have changed by now. The notion that they're taking in feedback right now in order to possibly make changes in how they operate is absolutely comical and anyone who thinks otherwise either is unaware of the years and years of history of behavior, or chooses to ignore that history.

The constant errors with this anthology are just funny to me at this point, even though they affect me. It's like the story of the scorpion and the frog. At this point, you can't be surprised that a scorpion acted like a scorpion.

I went into this not expecting the set to be a centerpiece of my record collection. It seemed like an interesting way to learn more about jazz. That aspect hasn't really panned out (I have high hopes - but low expectations - for the booklet being an educational tool) but time will tell. My collection is fluid in that if it doesn't grab me, at some point I'll move it along.

If you're mad at how VMP behaves after years and years of the same behavior by them, that's on you (the general you, not you specifically @Murfocakes ), not on VMP.

Which is why we should have dropped down to one thread. Fuck them.

You are misinterpreting me @High Rant District as I think we have the same point. ‘I cannot believe how badly’ as in I knew there would be errors but with every delivery, and so many aspects of the roll out and execution. If I thought it was going to be flawless i’d have signed up.

They hurt you @Joe Mac , they really hurt you.

Nah! I just don’t get why everyone still gives a fuck. We’ve left the past behind and moved onto a brighter future yet for some reason want to reminisce nostalgically about the guy back home who repeatedly punched people in the face for no reason...

Also I’m not for giving them any more free advertising/fomo build up space than we give any other club!

Good point. A great way to rebel would be to use my LovesVinyl referral code. That would show ‘em. The swines.

Assuming the replacement Schizo is all fine when it arrives and they don't ask for the old one to be sent back, I can send you my schizo Schizo. If you want me to reserve it for you, let me know and I'll put a sticky note on the shrink so I don't forget when the replacement arrives. Don't worry about the postage.

If you're open to sending it on to someone else, seeing as he doesn't need this anymore, it's the one I'm after. Well, this and the Bobby Hutcherson.

I thought they were just replacing the records and even in that case I'd even be happy with just the record (wrong labels) and no sleeve.
