Whelp, despite the tepid response, I'm still gonna get Mr. Hands this month. I'm dropping my side sub though, as neither Essentials nor RHH do anything for me, and the swaptions are stale.

Don’t worry about what people say! If you enjoy what you hear, then it’s for you! You shouldn’t need other people’s opinions to decide whether or not to like something!Whelp, despite the tepid response, I'm still gonna get Mr. Hands.
N&G Record Club is better IMO.Don’t worry about what people say! If you enjoy what you hear, then it’s for you! You shouldn’t need other people’s opinions to decide whether or not to like something!
Despite the chaos, I think VMP is by far the best record club right now. Some people will wholeheartedly disagree, but that’s fine!
I love the Needles&Grooves record club too!N&G Record Club is better IMO.
I'm on the same page. I think we need some 'meh' months to get the Art Blakey level stuff at this price point.Despite the chaos, I think VMP is by far the best record club right now. Some people will wholeheartedly disagree, but that’s fine!
I swapped Herbie for the Isleys. Looks Iike Herbie sold out already, I hope I don’t end up regretting that swap but I grabbed a cheap version on Amazon . Oh well too late now PermaswappedI'm on the same page. I think we need some 'meh' months to get the Art Blakey level stuff at this price point.
Is that Hancock sold out already? I know there are fluctuations where something will be not available and then available again, and although our 'jazz informed' crowd have a good handle on Herbie's discography, that release looked pretty hyped up from the average group. Thinking with the other offerings, it may go faster than anticipated.
So happy to hear that!!!I’m a go on the record to say Lucille is one of the best sounding records I own.
For anyone that wants a true Classics type album, Ray Charles' Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music is available as a swap now, which was not the case yesterday.
Email CS, they got back to me and swapped my Herbie for Ray pretty quicklyYou gave me hope but it’s gone again. I guess I’ll just have to get something to sell because the choices are all bogging! Thebestdamn record club!

So true but I really don’t think the album overcomes the dated electronics outside of a few tracks. Plus, I’m reaching for nearly any other album from 60’s to mid 70’s Herbie before this one. Hopefully this one turns out well for all that are getting it. Maybe I’ll pick up an OG on the cheap sometime but I am definitely passing this month. If you are on the fence about this Classics pick, know that some amazing drummers are on this record. I swapped everything but this track and the sheer talent in his band won me over.
That’s how I look at a lot of these albums. I get not pressing the most renowned albums as those are more likely widely available but you gotta have some balance. Mr. Hands reminds me of the recent Roots release in that neither of these albums are particularly bad but they are also nowhere near their best albums either and unless you are a completist for a particular artist why would you ever spin one of these artists lower tier options when given the choice between these and far better albums within these artists own discographies? I am sure both releases will be well done and sound wonderful but what’s the point if you never spin it?So true but I really don’t think the album overcomes the dated electronics outside of a few tracks.
