Album number x songs on OG tracklist.
5x24 (120) for Ghostface
22x6 (132) for Sonny Rollins

I'm not sure how anyone would've guessed that, but...

Making it even more difficult for Rollins is the fact the OG has 5 tracks.

In positive news (although I guess bad for the guess thread):

"Fwiw, we should be announcing all three tracks for Oct, Nov, and Dec at the end of September.

Jazz heavy run in Classics."

Got my box today. While I wish classics was more blues/jazz and less funk as far as eras of music Money Talks sounds amazing and slaps.

So apparently VMP forgot to get me the memo on the “little” price hike. . And I don’t hang out over here all that often. Just noticed it. This is a tough nut to swallow. I do like the classics sub as I have all of them but one.

Still I have had some very serious “trust” issues with VMP. Many of you know that feeling I’m sure. Buying an extended sub and paying VMP upfront is iffy at best. 6mths upfront to stay temporarily at the old mth-to-mth price. VMP and I have been mth-to-mth since the “wham bam thank you ma’am” to the old forum members. Hmmm

I have to agree with those who said Money Talks was a subpar Classics selection. Having both it and Coldblooded come in the same order, the latter feels like a much more deserving selection. I enjoyed Coldblooded a lot more than Money Talks, though the beat that's sampled by Marss for Pump Up The Volume was fun to hear.

Keep in mind that Tical became available from other retailers a couple months after VMP dropped it. On the other hand, their classics often don't pop up anywhere else, especially not the AAA jazz releases.

Not to jinx it, but I think we will be able to get Sonny soonish. Maybe next month or 2? I'm grabbing Spiritualized, so I'm not swapping anything, but I'm not grabbing a $33 add-on right now.

Alright, I’m swapping to Shabaka. Most Classics this year seem to make it to swaptions for at least one month, so if I’m not feeling next month’s pick I hopefully can grab Sonny then.

I’m already doing one add-on for Ghostface, I definitely don’t want to do another one with the new price.

Same here. Going with Spiritualized and $33 add-on is a lot. So I'm finally breaking the classics chain.

Should have done this long ago considering the Rollins is a much better record (IMO) than many I kept.

I’m keeping both. Spiritualized as a double LP is worth a $33 add on to me being such a great record. My annual Classics sub has Classics ROTMs averaging out to $25 a month.

yeah I mean this is a large reason why I lost interest in classics too, is no longer classics but jazz + the odd other mid tier Stax record to fill storf’s collection, which is fine, but it is not getting me signed back up.

The magazine article on why they chose this album is one of the laziest most uninspired pieces of writing I’ve read from a professional journalist maybe ever.
