Has it been confirmed which year VMP is using?

I guess not technically. In the tweet @keylime_5 shared it states 'Q1 2021 Official ROTM Hints', so im assuming they are using 2021 as the date.

If I’m not counting wrong, LaBelle’s Nightbirds would work for January. Probably counting wrong though and this is taking into account pre name change.

VMP, nor any other reissue label, has ever been able to license from ECM.

ECM simply don't do this. They don't believe in having their work altered.

Bobby Bland - Dreamer for January?

Did Twitter rule that out yet?

That would be a good one. I'd be pretty happy with that or Preston. Both excellent

Bobby Bland and Billy Preston seems to fit for January (I think the Bobby Bland is probably a better pick)
Could be Donna Summer for March like I pointed out earlier about it being the year her 3rd album came out (2nd if you don't count her debut which was a Dutch-only release)

Bobby Bland’s “Dreamer” would be an outstanding pick! I love that album and absolutely am obsessed with the song “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City”! Imagine how wonderful it would be spinning that album and that being the first track that plays!

Is the LaBelle- Nightbirds album a stretch for January? It’s their ninth and album if you account for the name change. I’m thinking it’s the Bobby Bland album though.

Ain’t no love is a great track..the Whitesnake version is great

Gonna continue to be hopeful for some blues, maybe another Alligator release. Only one that may fit is Son Seals, Midnight Son.

I wish they picked blues albums for Classics more often. We only got one in 2020 and it was a tad underwhelming.

I was thinking that, but couldn't figure out how to get the "you could argue 3rd" part to fit. Any ideas?

No idea, although my research process consisted only of checking discogs and Wikipedia while waiting for my kids to fall asleep

I wish they picked blues albums for Classics more often. We only got one in 2020 and it was a tad underwhelming.

Seriously. I really hope we get three or so this year. I know it’s not possible to have an AAA reissue for a lot of the “classic” titles, but there’s so many albums that need a good reissue. I would be pretty disappointed if they picked that Bobby Bland album as one of their blues albums. Outside of Ain’t No Love... I’m not feeling the album at all.
