Vinyl Me Please Classics

I think I'm. The minority but I'm not really feeling this month. Listened to a bit of Prine since it was mooted and think if I had the RSD box I'd rarely pull the debut. Not to mention my local has the debut for less than my VMP sub. Add what seems a totally random Hayes album and I've been skipping on RaHH since, well, forever. I. Just looking at the line up and I honestly can't be arsed at all. Roll on February.

Reminder that Craft, who almost certainly were involved with this release, also have done Hot Buttered Soul, Black Moses, and Shaft. Hot Buttered Soul is looking a little scarce at the moment but Newbury has a gold one limited to 500.

I totally was lumping him in with UK
Wars have been started for less. Actually wars have been started for that exact thing too.

For the record my views on VMP are fairly well known but as everyone loves an encore I think its customer service is fantastic at times. They recently took 3 minutes to replace a buggered lp, pressing quality spotty, prices unfortunate but not obscenely off what is pay in the UK and curation has become hit or miss for my tastes buuuuuuut across 2 subs there is usually something I'd be happy enough with. However I also see it as a business shifting a commodity and not as my mate. If they could just be a bit more consistent with the pressing quality I'd be a little less pissy.

I’m with you Rowan. I’ve been a member for about a year and this will be my first month where I’m going for credit. None of these three options meet the quality/interest bar for the price point.

Thanks for this @NewsFedora. Issac Hayes is one of those musicians where I can name several of his albums and know the importance of Shaft, Hot Buttered Soul and Black Moses, but I have never actually listened to his music. Is this a good one to jump in with even though it might not be his best?

Also, are the swaps available from tomorrow, 28th?
He's got some amazing music and I highly recommend Hot Buttered Soul as a starting point. It's amazing and revelatory.

I would not recommend starting here. I don't think the record is the two-star debacle that Allmusic rates it -- but it is a weak reflection of an amazing talent.

Note: for context only, I also think that Shaft is good but not extraordinary -- so perhaps I'm biased against soundtrack efforts, but please do give Hot Buttered Soul a good listen. It's epic and a great record

Agreed! I wouldn’t recommend starting with this album @Selaws if you want to discover Isaac Hayes’ music. Hot Buttered Soul is easily Isaac Hayes best album! The title album accurately describes the music on Hot Buttered Soul. It’s a sexy, sweaty, soulful, steamy, seductive album and I think it’s a stone cold classic! 🔥🔥🔥

You are going to be amazed and might even moan when you hear “Walk On By” for the first time! It’s seriously such a slow burning, rich, delicious, decadent song! It’s one of the most indulgent songs of all-time! 😍😋💎🍒

I can confirm by bitter experience lumping @Joe Mac into the U.K. is not a wise move

I mean you’re English, it’s like across the water, I’m still utterly baffled that anyone in the uk could possibly think that we‘re still part of the uk, it’s incomprehensible to me, almost like someone here calling England a part of France...

At least they’re at least a big country a very very long away...
