Vinyl Me Please Classics

Does VMP ever add to the “swaps” list in a given window? Or is it “what you see is what you get” as long as it’s in stock?

Dave Van Ronk does nothing for me, and I already have the swap options I’d consider. Will probably swap for credit this month.

I believe it's what you see is what you get.
They did swaps preview earlier, everything there should be everything that's on the list. There shouldn't be any surprise additions.

Of course, so do I. I'm just not writing off the track just yet. There's still a greater than zero chance they'll fuck up somewhere, but I find it's a lower chance than the Essentials.
i wouldn't be shocked if either GZ pushes the number of pressings per stamper or just does less QC on the bigger essentials runs to get them done in time.

the bigger downside to this next batch is I think they are also plated at GZ. IIRC, some of the past few months were plated at RTI and pressed at GZ.

Hey look disclaimer for Dave Van Ronk. Guess Kanye is still on the table.
I think that's a little different than "This artist has been known to tweet out anti-semetic sentiment in recent times and thinks Hitler is overall a pretty cool guy".

I still think VMP doesn't touch Kanye with a 1000ft pole.

EDIT: That aside, I'm curious as to what prompted the disclaimer on this one? Anyone have a song they can point to or two?

From the allmusic review:
John Henry's bawdy blues "You've Been a Good Old Wagon" and the traditional "Chicken Is Nice" are charming in their unaffected, almost accidental whimsy. As there is nothing new about the material, once again the impassive delivery and subtle intonations are at the core of making these readings so amusing. In the case of the former, Van Ronk's assertion to keep the narrative voice either feminine -- or possibly gay -- allows tremendous insight into the type of humor Van Ronk successfully asserts. The April 1962 sessions that yielded Folksinger would also produce enough material for his follow-up LP, Inside Dave Van Ronk, for Prestige's spin-off label, Folklore.

I agree VMP doesn’t do Kanye, just found it interesting.

Lookee here daddy, I wanna tell you, please get out o' my sight,
I'm playin' quits now, right from this very night!
You've had your day, don't stand around and frown,
You've been a good old wagon, daddy, but you done broke down!
Now you better go to the blacksmith's shop and get yourself overhauled,
There's nothin' about you to make a good homin' for!
Nobody wants a baby when a real man can be found,
You've been a good old wagon, daddy, but you done broke down!
When the sun is shinin', it's time to make hay,
I've seen 'mobiles operate, you can't make that wagon pay!
When you were in your prime, you loved to run around,
You've been a good old wagon, honey, but you done broke down!
There's no need to cry and make a big show,
This man has taught me more about lovin' than you will ever know!
He is the king of lovin', has manners of a crown,
He's a good old wagon, daddy, and he ain't broke down!
🤷

This is so mild for it's time I'm surprised that VMP even went through the trouble of writing up that disclaimer.

Wrong yes, but I'm expecting slurs here.

Jesus Christ.
I'm going to start writing disclaimers for every rap album in their inventory.
