Maybe Something in Blue? But yeah I think Monk's Blues would be more likely as it's a more well-known and acclaimed album.

Acclaimed? People always trash that album.

(Tbf, I’m not familiar with it despite being a Monk fan. It may very well be a decent album. But that’s not its reputation.)

My copy of Black Nasty and it’s replacement both had the worst dish warps I’ve ever gotten from VMP, which is pretty funny because they actually finally started shipping the booklet outside the jacket now

Booklet outside the jacket? This is a great idea, but mine was inside per usual.

Maybe they should replace the booklet with a QR code that leads you to the write-up on their site? They could add playlists and a primer on the artist? I don't know, just an idea to save a little on making booklets and having to replace so many records?

I don't think the book contributes to as many warps as the pressing plant not letting these things cool properly. So many new records are warped nowadays, almost 50% of the time I feel like. Old 140g records are almost never warped from manufacturing, weird how that is.

I hope so. But I mean there are a lot of great jazz organists out there. Lonnie Smith, Larry Young, Shirley Scott, Jack McDuff, Reuben Wilson, etc.

Jimmy is definitely the biggest name though.

Interested in what the Hard Bop would be. Agree that organ jazz is probably Jimmy Smith but definitely not a Blue Note release. Feels like the Blue Note avenue has been closed.
