Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Does anyone else know if the other QOTSA albums are also being pressed at Pallas and cut by Chris Bellman?

It's probably fair to assume the regular version of SFTD has the same master as VMP's. Era Vulgaris is converted from a 3 x 10'' to a 2 x 12'' so probably a new master, but can't find details about it.

Im a bit salty about that one, I only bought the 3x10 earlier this year and it’s a pain in the arse of a pressing in terms of sleeve size and constant flipping whilst playing!

Same here, got the 3x10 less than a year ago, thinking this would always be the only kind of pressing out there. Well, it's my least favourite QOTSA record, so it's not so bad.

Can't be sold out then.

I mean, the records are around ~$50 right now on 'Cogs, which sucks for anyone that buys them. If this were a real exclusive I could see it actually being worth something, but it's basically just a deluxe edition. Still, VMP's FOMO works really well and basically creates these markets. I remember people complaining about the sales limit being 5 or whatever, but the thing is, VMP wants a flipper market. That gives their releases value. They WANT flippers going wild for their stuff and creating these inflated little record bubbles, because those bubbles mean their next release is going to be worth buying, and so on. Flipping is really good for VMP's business. And it's something that'll blow up sooner or later.
is $50 still cheaper than the average price of a VMP sub tho is the question. especially for people who have no desire to sub to the service, $50 might be a bargain for the variant color alone.

with that said, knock on wood my month to month plan stays that way forever.

A sub is $29 per month times three. A clever subscriber could swap the next 2 months for something they could sell for $30 or more.

But really, buying the non-VMP version is just the easiest thing unless you really want that marbled red vinyl.

I know I was hating on the art print, but finally spinning this album. I have to say, the pressing and the rest of the packaging has been great. I don't know that I would have purchased it on my own, but I cannot imagine this album sounding any better or coming out any cleaner. Very happy with this ROTM overall.
That is me 100%. I would not have bought this on my own. And it does sound great!

When all is said and done, my guess is that they will settle out in the $40-$60 range 6 to 12 months from now. But I agree with the flipper problems and that it's not sustainable in the long run.

Songs for the Deaf is amazing, got mine today and am on the second side. Beautiful sound.

Problem is mines plagued with a couple of hairline scratches, and a few pops around the beginning of the first side. Will clean and listen to it closer and see if its enough for me to message CS.

Anyone else get MM.. Food? My copy is black specks on both the green and white vinyl. Anyone else have that?

My goodness, this thing sounds fantastic. I'm really pleased with this edition of Songs For The Deaf.

I get the BS around trying to FOMO people into subscribing, but I cannot see anyone who got this package being disappointed (other than with the art print which feels lazy considering how many different directions such a distinct album in terms of feel and theme could lead an artist).

Just checked my Mm... Food, and I do have a single black speck on side B of the green record and 1-2 on each side of the white record. Really small though.

I guess some black pellets got in the mix.

Anyone notice that the drums are completely buried in the mix of Song For the Dead? Like I can barely hear them when it’s cranked and my EQ is flat. The drums in the rest of the album are fine and present but this track they’re barely audible. I’ve A/B’d with my CD and a bootleg and the drums are super upfront and present with the rest of the band. They finally come in towards the end but that’s about it
