Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Half way through my first spin of Songs For The Deaf, and damn it sounds great!
VMP should just get rid of the art prints and use that money towards getting better higher quality inner sleeves for other exclusives (that receive the generic paper shitty inner sleeve). Those art prints don’t mean anything to me. They go straight in the bin!

Essential ROTM Art Prints and the Rap & Hip-Hop stencils automatically go in the bin!
I don’t think they are worthless, but I’d rather see the money go to that as well.
Some art prints are cool but they just sit inside the jacket unfortunately.

I think it would be rad if they got someone like Ed Piskor to create some Hip Hop Family Tree-esque trading cards for the Rap/Hip-Hop Sub but I doubt they will change them now...

Man, if they did something like this I would buy a lot of their rap/hip hop track just to get these cards. Honestly, I just throw the stencils and artwork away for the most part.

Are you familiar with the Blue Note Review? Vol 2 came with a similar thing, playing/trading cards with stats and a little bio of each artist on the blue note rosta. Came in one of those old school plastic top trumps cases. Really cool if they were to do something like this with the Hip Hop track, allows you to build the collection over time.

I really wish the BN review was cheaper...the extras are cool and all but I can never pull the trigger for how little music tends to be on them...

Just noticed that there are like 16+ copies of unopened QOTSA up on Discogs... flippers went wild for this one!
I don´t see this gaining too much in price with a black version readily available. i don´t even know if the rotm sold out.

This would suggest not

Can't be sold out then.

I mean, the records are around ~$50 right now on 'Cogs, which sucks for anyone that buys them. If this were a real exclusive I could see it actually being worth something, but it's basically just a deluxe edition. Still, VMP's FOMO works really well and basically creates these markets. I remember people complaining about the sales limit being 5 or whatever, but the thing is, VMP wants a flipper market. That gives their releases value. They WANT flippers going wild for their stuff and creating these inflated little record bubbles, because those bubbles mean their next release is going to be worth buying, and so on. Flipping is really good for VMP's business. And it's something that'll blow up sooner or later.

Didn´t they even have a marketig e-mail a coupl of months ago bragging about the high resale value of their exclusives?

Oooh I don't think I saw that but that's super interesting. It's definitely a selling point for them though and I bet drives plenty of sales every month. Still not a good thing to base your business on.

Generally i think it´s mostly the true exclusives ( del ais dead et al) That really command higher prices. At least the ones i have in my discogs are hardly commanding any special prices.
