Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I always liked that they hired one of their buddies to dance around the stage like a ska hype man during their sets.
I had a friend in HS that was at Warped Tour. She lost all her stuff (wallet, keys, etc) and was sitting out on a bench just sobbing. This guy comes over and sits down with her, listens to her story, and then basically gets her money and a way home. It was Dickey Barrett.

I didn't know
The Pietasters are legit good.
One time I saw the pietasters at a greek church. They were having trouble with the monitor, and the wasted singer kept berating the sound guy. When he came up to swap out a different cable, the singer kicked him right in the ass and he went flying. That seemed more in line with some of the hardcore shows I used to go to and kind of colored my opinion of their music for a while. That was in like 1998, so I should probably revisit it.

ROCK N ROLL BABY

Sorry to derail the ska talk, but it looks like the PJ Harvey website announced the Rid of Me reissues moments ago. IMO that pretty much confirms that Rid of Me will be one of the two 90s Essentials.

I'm not sure about that. If they're reissuing it outside of VMP, why would a VMP version be Essentials worthy? More likely that it's a color variant that VMP overcharges for.

There is a chance it could also be a store exclusive if they do it

That wouldn't be the easy sub magnet they hope for when they do 3 month bombs of the essential comes the same month as the ROTM

I think I noticed ska thanks to Tony Hawk Pro Skater as a kid. Which made me notice Superman by Goldfinger. Then RBF was used heavily in BASEketball. Less than Jake was on the radio, and eventually in high school I found Streetlight Manifesto. Turns out if it has horns in it I probably like it. That's what happens when your parents play a lot of Chicago and Earth, Wind, & Fire growing up.

I had a friend in high school that was in a band. When I asked him what instrument he played, he replied "I'm Spider-Man". I was confused, until I saw one of their shows and in the middle of one of the songs he came on stage dressed as Spider-Man and danced around. I was still confused afterwards...
