Vinyl Me Please Essentials

If that's what you like about it, I think you will probably like Stankonia best of their albums.

As an example of different strokes, that's why I rate it a little lower then Aquemini and ATLiens generally, because it seems more disjointed to me. But that's cool, 'cause we're different!
yeah that makes sense

ATLiens i was mostly just not feeling the beats enough to not fall asleep and aquemini when i did first hear it i was expecting something sounding a lot more modern and more... emo? i heard they were lyrical and was expecting something on the level of college dropout or TPAB or something... i know it sounds stupid now but thats honestly what i expected

I'm convinced the hype over Is This It has to be a "you had to be there" kind of thing because I get almost nothing from that album. I guess I can see why it might have been a big deal in 2001 but I just find it very blah.
Yeah, I think Is This It is an exceptional album but I can appreciate that there was immense hype at the time of it’s release.

It took a while for Pet Sounds to click with me and I think it had a lot to do with the albums influence on popular music. The greatness isn’t as immediate when you have been listening to band and artists ape that symphonic pop sound for 40 years. The magic is there but the hype and influence camouflages the greatness. my SO still doesn’t get Nirvana, she didn’t really get exposed to it until later and by the time she gave it a go for the first time it was hard for her to hear why it was considered special. 15 years of sub par post grunge songs on the radio had dulled their edges a bit.

But did you listen to the chorus of the track “ATLiens”? That is some one catchy freaky, alienated, spellbinding, fascinating chorus!

And oh no! You didn’t care for the instrumental to ‘Wheelz of Steel’! The instrumental on that song is smoky, subtle, gloomy, hazy, seductive, wandering and murky! The DJ scratching in the chorus is 👌👌👌!

I want you to be with me when you listen to ATLiens, Aquemini and Stankonia so then I can hypnotise you and guide you through each album 😂😂😂

btw listening to stankonia (right at B.O.B) and im liking it pretty well... maybe it will not get as good when it gets later into the album but the beats are a lot better than on the other albums because it feels like a new song each time and the only major bug is that i just dont really like skits on albums... maybe i was just sleepy while listening to ATLiens so it was too long.. but who knows im only halfway through
“B.O.B.” Still feels like like futuristic gospel house rap 20 years later. Still gets me hyped all these years later.

I hate the Beach Boys. Always have and always will. There I said. Whew that feels better.
And.......The National are so overrated! Their music is so boring, safe, white-collar, mid 30’s drinking wine thinking their the shit, teachers pet, doesn’t want to go clubbing because they’re they’d rather stay with their partner, unattractive, dull and monotonous ! 🥱🥱🥱

The National’s music isn’t arousing at all, and is just so unattractive and unsexy! Like, their music is so dry...🙅‍♂️🥱

Imma let you finish but... just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s overrated. It just means you don’t like it. My very sexy SO and I find their music to be brooding, darkly romantic and poetic. I can certainly respect they aren’t to everyone’s taste but they also aren’t overrated either.

LOL, The National is one of the acclaimed bands I despise the most. Them and U2. That one is a visceral hatred from all the way back when I was a teenager growing up in the 80s.

yeah i'll take a copy of stankonia... probably their best album mostly because the beats are pretty alright and dont feel the same.... wish it wasn't AS long though... also helps that i listened to it in 2 chunks instead of trying to listen in one sitting
Yay, I’m so happy you’re going to grab a copy of Stankonia when it gets announced as the Essentials ROTM! 🙌😍🤟🏴🏳️⭐

Yeah, that’s definitely true! They aren’t overrated actually! I just don’t like their music!

I can’t stand U2. Besides a few songs I do not like them. Every time I see Bono’s stupid face I want to sock puppet punch him in the throat!

I can fuck w The National though. Not too much. But a lil bit

Yeah I’ve always found the acclaim Sade gets around these parts strange, its reputation when I was getting into music was as the soundtrack to a suburban middle aged, middle class “sophisticated” dinner party in the 80s where no one actually liked music...
I actually understand where you’re coming from! I definitely understand the sophisticated middle aged dinner party vibe, and it’s just like music to be played for the sake of matching the vibe! 🤝

I love Sade so much though! I love how elegant, fragile, glamorous, indulgent and luxurious a lot of their music is! 😍🦚💎

You know what they put on right after Sade at your dinner party, tho? Some good ol’ white collar, staying home from the clubs The National.

I don’t despise U2 but I think the only album I would ever add to my collection would be Achtung Baby. I have enjoyed a few of their singles over the years, If I believed in Greatest Hits comps they would be a good Greatest Hits band maybe.
