Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I got into them big time once COVID hit in March for sone reason...I don’t any solo stuff though..where do you recommend starting at?
Here ya go:

-Albert Hammond, Jr. ‎– Yours To Keep. If you like that album, then listen to ¿Cómo Te Llama?

-Julian Casablancas - Honestly, I really DO like his "The Voidz" side project. It's kind of crazy.

If this song doesn't scare you off, peep both "THE VOIDZ" albums called (Tyranny and Virtue). If you don't like it, then Julian only has one solo album called Phrazes Of The Young which is way more "Strokesy"

Ok fine I have a hot take-- Phazes for the Young is actually good and I like it more than all the Strokes albums except the first two!

Damn, that's pretty hot. I'll parlay into that by saying Albert Hammond Jr - Yours To Keep is better than any Strokes album after 2005 (and is the best Strokes solo album)

Edit #27: You can really hear from that album that AHJ is the core "musical sound" of The Strokes, and obviously Julian is the central lyrical/vocal figure.

My favorite thing about the Voidz is they dress like the hipster Village People and I mean that as a compliment. Their music doesn’t do much for me though.

I only really care for the first two. 🤷‍♂️
Different Strokes for different folks I guess....

I know there is a different thread for this but...

Strokes Albums Ranked
01-a. Is This It
01-b. Room On Fire
04. First Impressions Of Earth
05. The New Abnormal
06. Angles
10. Comedown Machine
aka... you notice they slowly get worse and worse with each album until they make a notable improvement (at least over the last couple albums) with their comeback album

Either my copy is a hair distorted or Billie got too close to the mic recording Lady Sings The Blues, getting the occasional top end stretch. Similar to Louis on the Louis/Oscar Peterson album. Anyone else experience that?

I sure hope that isn’t a widespread issue. I returned that Armstrong/Peterson. The distortion was like nails of a chalkboard for me. It was so bad.
