Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I sure hope that isn’t a widespread issue. I returned that Armstrong/Peterson. The distortion was like nails of a chalkboard for me. It was so bad.
It’s not nearly as bad, just a bit harsh at points on my system. The Louis on the other hand was an unfortunate issue but apparently it was attributed to the recording and not the actual pressing itself, which is better but still takes some of the fun out of the listen!

Totally. It took alllll of the fun out for me, which is a shame because the music is great!

After days in Limbo my VMP Billie Holiday is officially out for delivery. So excited for this one! Any one get there’s yet? How is it?
It's pretty good. If you're a Billie Holiday fan, I think you'll be happy with it. Most music of that era doesn't really excite me, but my wife was very excited about this one. I listened to it somewhat passively, but I didn't catch any major defects or flaws with it. Pretty impressive that it can sound as good as it does after all this time. Quality pressing from VMP this go around in my opinion.

But of the era, and from VMP, I still think Sister Rosetta Tharpe stands in a class on it's own. That pressing and recording is insanely stunning. Not just for the era. It's still amazingly good.

On the commentary of the Strokes, I've always been a fan. Not a super fan, but I think even their worst albums are really enjoyable. But Is This It will always hold a special place in my heart. I hunted down the MOV variant awhile back, and I couldn't imagine VMP topping that one.

I don't even know what the other albums in question might be, I'm cool with the Strokes even if I have to swap it because I don't need a duplicate of that one.

*edit: meant to add that I LOVE the latest Voidz album. Spin that one frequently. It's hectic in the best way.

Agree w all of this. “Is This It” is extremely sentimental for me.

No takers on Comedown Machine? I think it’s a solid listen all the way through and “Tap Out” and “Chances” are two of my favorite Strokes songs.
I think it’s pretty good. My biggest issue with it is that the whole album feels a bit too low key. It’s still a fairly decent album but not usually what I am looking for when I wanna listen to The Strokes.

I asked by brother who is a bigger fan than me to rank them and he went

1. Is This Is
2. Room on Fire
3/4. First Impressions of Earth
4/3. The New Abnormal
5. Comedown Machine
6. Angles

his direct quotes were that first impressions has too many classic singles to be a low album, comedown grew on him over time and angles was one that he liked more but it definitely gotten worse over time

This is exactly my ranking as well. I think I like Comedown Machine more than most - the New Wave experiments appeal to me. Angles is definitely my least favorite. And the New Abnormal has staying power, I think. That one may rise in time.

Okay, so is it definitely Room on Fire? The copy I currently have sounds pretty terrible, the mastering is all off. Hopefully this one is a major improvement.
Could be a perfect circle, honestly I'd prefer that, but strokes seems more in line with their direction. Apc and that record specifically seem too heavy for them.
