Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Room on Fire is my favorite Strokes album, so I’m happy if that‘s the choice, but I already own a pressing that sounds good to me. It will be interesting to see if VMP can put out a superior pressing here. These are not super hifi recordings to begin with!

For the record:

1) Room on Fire
2) Is This It
3) Comedown Machine
4) First Impressions of Earth
5) The New Abnormal (I haven’t given it enough time, tho...)
6) Angles

I still don’t get the pick at all. Did VMP get the rights to distribute or something? I was under the impression the the AAA Kevin Gray Rhino cut was going to be available for the foreseeable future (I know that version isn’t particularly available anymore, but thought it was just a pressing plant backed up issue).

Yeah, buy records from us that you can get elsewhere pressed at better plants for cheaper. Wut...
Considering you don't know any pressing details yet....

I get why you would want to buy somewhere else besides VMP if you can, especially if it's cheaper (the Rhino press is great). But how people are still surprised every month they do something with a wide release is crazy...

Agreed, but as someone who had not yet picked up the recent reissue, this is at least convenient for me (y) (as long as they are using the same cut, that is...)

Maybe. But they generally do a couple new releases each year....This whole "focus on things not currently pressed" seems like a made up thing that is not really VMPs objective.
Maybe and while I get that there are a load of freaks and weirdos who are balls deep on VMP Fundamentalism who would shun an alternative press, regardless of pedigree, for some GZ piece of shit (as well as the really well pressed QRP/RTI affairs) and they may decide that they want this, whatever it is. But Surely VMP's business model should also include an understanding on when its essentials were last released and is the customer base going to be astute enough to have a quick check to see if they can get and equally well (or potentially superior) pressing for less outlay. A press that in some cases has been out for a month or so. And I'm not talkign about the same new releases that are all pressed for multiple suppliers at the same plant but in a variety of colours.

Equally they may have had this sitting on the backburner for ages while they ready the Country Track and have been waiting until that is close to put this out as a bit of promo and the Rhino has just been unfortunate timing.
