The new album , so far, sounds very different than the SK I'm used to. More like St. Vincent. But I don't begrudge you your taste at all! You tried which shows you were at least open minded enough to give a listen. I hope you get a great swap!!! That ships. And isn't warped.

I have all the Albums on my music player but never given it a chance. I just shuffle played your link and i like “oh” a lot. Not a bad first tune at all.

I've heard Sleater Kinney before but I've never been much into them, I have Le Tigre and Bikini Kill albums and somehow don't have a single Kinney album which is dumb and I probably should but HOW DID I NOT KNOW THAT THE LEAD SINGER IS THE LEAD ACTRESS IN PORTLANDIA

I'm the same - I've got some Bikini Kill and Le Tigre because Kathleen Hanna makes fantastic music in different styles, but Sleater-Kinney has yet to grab me. I'll dig in again via @Teeeee 's playlist.

It's funny to see a transplant get caught in the cross-hairs of a WA vs. OR rivalry (although in my experience it's 90% Portland vs. Seattle).

You spelled 'Shittle' incorrectly.

If you ever want to see a mullet in the wild, you can usually find one just over the border from Portland in Vantucky, WA (aka 'The Incorrect Vancouver'). The last time I saw the most rare of mullets - the fe-mullet - it was in Vantucky.

If it's the August ROTM, wouldn't it go out at the end of August?

August rotm should begin shipping around Aug5-10 or thereabouts. Arrival can be anywhere between Aug8-Dec.

Occasional lead singer. I think Corin Tucker has more songs as lead.

Corin is actually the lead singer, though Carrie (Portlandia) does sing lead vocals on a number of their songs.

Looks like all but a lock for Jorge Ben - Africa Brasil and Willie Bobo - Uno Dos Tres.

I'm not familiar enough with either one to decipher which of these would be Classics and which would be Essentials.

AFrica is essentials. Bobo is classics

I wish they would have gone with A Tábua de Esmeralda by Ben, which has my favorite song of his Zumbi on it. But Africa Brasil is a really solid choice for Essentials. I much prefer those choices over ones like Phoenix.
