Vinyl Me Please Essentials

My Phoenix record has a pretty loud crackle during the first song on side A. Bummer. I emailed them.

Anyone else have this?

A1 has continuous noise on my copy. I did a needle drop below. Is this what yours sounds like?

Fairly evident at 0:00, 0:58, 2:07, 3:11, and 4:00, then just kind of disappears as the side goes on.

Disappointing, because the mastering is great.

I don't have this but that sounds like the usual crap GZ pressing routine. I've had more of these than I can count over the past 1.5 years with VMP. GZ is utter trash.

That is exactly what I have going on. I sent your link to VMP and told them that mine does the exact same thing.

The rest of the record sounds amazing. Hopefully they send me a copy that sounds as good but without the defect.

I apologize again for the SK rd location error. Lol

That is my favorite SK song. The first time I saw it performed live, I sobbed. My friend was concerned until I started laughing through my tears.

After reading Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl I have to focus pretty hard on not crying when I hear One More Hour. (also my favorite SK song)

@Mather after reading your portlandia revelation, you should read that book ^. wasnt even the biggest SK fan going into and I think its easily my favorite music memoir.

SK is a very good ROTM. I really respect that band, but they've never clicked for me. I bought the boxed set and listened to all of their albums a number of times, The Woods is my favorite and I liked the most recently once pretty well too. For some reason I feel the same way about them that I feel about Led Zeppelin, I totally get why they would be so many people's favorite band but they don't do much for me overall.

Getting new copies of Phoenix and Classics. Was told they're going to start doing a nickel test where the warp has to be large enough to fit a nickel under.

That's a new one. What are the qualifiers? Like do you have to fit the entire nickle under it? Or just the edge of it? Are we talking a US nickle? What about a Canadian nickle? I mean it's fine because most of mine you could fit a mug of coffee under so I'm not concerned but still...
