Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

It appears that they just let everything go fucking haywire until swaps close and then when the dust settles they figure out how many they actually need. Apparently all of the fulfillment is random on top of that so a new member could get it over a sub for 2+ years.

They should prioritize those who are already subscribed to the track > new add-on's/swaps > new members. As long as they account for everyone that's already subbed to that track, they shouldn't need to prioritize by seniority, as everyone is already accounted for. New add-on's/swaps would then be first come first serve, followed by new members.

All you would have to do in this situation for new members is provide warning that if the record sells out, it's possible that the record will be delivered months later, or that they would not receive it at all, and would receive a credit instead. Doesn't seem too difficult. Hopefully if they're data-mining our forums some genius over there steals my idea.

At the end of the day.... as long as everyone that wants the record actually gets it, is what really matters to me. I'm honestly okay with them overselling and promising it to come in a few months rather than them just saying you're beat or turning away new customers or whatever. I was in the Nat Turner group that had to wait and while I was very anxious, I did get the record and am happy.

I dont know how it works. I just assumed they are giving members the option to pick it next month when they are available and you could get something else this month? is that how its going down?

Or are they saying dont swap and in 2 months ull get outkast ?

They are saying you can swap this month to get something else, but that means I would be charged again for Outkast down the line.

Remember a few years ago when an alleged ex-VMP employee did a 4chan AMA and was asked why they left? They said something like "it became clear to me that the company was started by college buddies who had no business sense and got in over their heads when the company got big but wouldn't take good advice on the business side of things?"

Idk just something I find myself thinking about more and more recently

User Stoned Ape had posted the recommendation of Experience Unlimited to VMPs head of music.

VMP guy was all like wow this is awesome and replied that he actually made some calls and found out who had the rights to it and that it could happen. Told Stoned Ape thanks, etc.

Fast forward to the release interview and the same VMP staff gives a story on how he found Experience Unlimited by browsing Discogs and was impressed by the cool cover of the album.

When confronted by the forum on this lie, it was basically said that he forgot about that entire interaction and that he most have mixed up his stories.

Story did not check out

And look, I get that as head of music there are probably a lot of stories to keep straight but how many times has a user turned you on to a record that becomes the ROTM? Plus there was an entire back and forth in the forum where he told Stoned Ape that he tracked down the rights holder.
The worst part is that they didn't edit the interview after it was brought to their attention.

@Dead C recently posted up pics of this. Maybe he wouldn’t mind throwing them here as well because I’m having trouble finding the post.
