There's actually some nuance in this statement. "As big a deal to folks" is different than saying it'll be as big or as popular as Outkast. I'm guessing this means something people have been clamoring for that they don't have (like the full Southerplayalistic tracklist on vinyl).

So it makes me think it's not The Roots or anything with a readily available pressing in the format they're releasing. I'm still hopeful for Pilot Talk because people have been asking for it for years, and a pressing was actually announced for RSD and scrubbed. There are quite a few people that that album would be a big deal to. But who am I kidding? It's VMP so it'll probably be Chico Dusty 😑

Absolutely right. The master is horribly compressed, and not conducive to proper vinyl cutting at all. I think there's something to be said for how Joe Nino-Hernes wrangled the even worse master for Ye onto vinyl, so a better master could benefit MBDTF but still that thing is not a sonic miracle. Sometimes when a vinyl cutting engineer de-esses and EQs a bad digital master for vinyl it can sound more palatable. But most times, the music can sound worse as it presents the compression in the original source along with tracking issues from overworking the lathe. The real issue for me was the incredibly noisy pressing, which plagues a lot of United pressings.

Oh well, the album is great and my CD, and streaming platforms have seen it played many times over the years.

This X 1000. I remember when it was first released I kept downloading different digital rips that though had a high bit rate all sounded awful. I even bit the bullet and purchased digital copy of the record and obviously came to the realization that it was just mastered that way.

The only tracks I really like from Teflon Don are:

Super High (feat. Ne-Yo)
Maybach Music III (feat. Jadakiss, Erykah Badu & T.I)
Ashton Martin Music (feat, Chrisette Michelle & Drake)

Teflon Don would be a pass for me. Free Mason is quite nice but there’s something about that track that feels odd. It feels like an inferior version of Lil’ Wayne’s Mr. Carter.

Trey Songz cringy hook ruins No. 1 and I do not like any of the trap songs. But those three songs I do really like are all 👌

It mostly depends on what the pressing plant has a surplus of at the time, would be my guess. At one point most everything in the store was some kind of blue, and they went through a shitty brown stage at one point too.


VMP: what color pellets are the cheapest right now?

Pressing plant: we have a shit ton of brown that no one want.

VMP: Wood grain brown!, we'll take it!

Lol, I don't know if this is true but I'd believe it if it were.

Actually surprising Teflon Don never got an official pressing. Not a bad record IMO but I know that not everyone likes Rick Ross. I do, and my particular soft spot is for Only God Forgives, for nostalgia only.

I’d prefer Sir Luscious which I’ve avoided on vinyl due to the fact it’s white vinyl at URP which is almost assuredly going to be crappy IME.

Of course are either of these “classics” to me? Hell no....but they’re pretty good.
 
@Mather I believe I am in a similar situation to you. When Tical was announced I went over to my account to check it and the R&HH sub was missing from my orders (even though I have been subbed since the beginning and hadn't changed anything). I tried adding it back but it said it was sold out. After a lot of faffing CS ended up swapping my essentials for the R&HH rotm. Last month I went back on again and ended up swapping the essentials again as I still couldn't add the R&HH sub.

I have now emailed yet again to try and get them to add the sub to my regular account as it seems like this month will be a big release and I dont want to miss out. Whats driving me mad about all this is that its not an error on my side, I never changed any settings and just want it back to how it has been for the past 2 years!
 
Pilot Talk 2 also came out in 2010, right? I actually kind of like it more than the original...

Although ideally for me we’d have one be RHH and the other is a sclusie. :)
