Any news on joining for their 3 months offer, but swaping for McCoy (or any ther record)? I sent an email asking a couple of days ago, but have had no luck. Has anyone tried this yet?
You can join with any previous ROTM in essentials or hip hop only. The deal says Classics are not part of the deal. You also aren't able to manual swap although some people I believe said they were able to get a manual swap. You cannot get Classics for the first month, but any month past that and you can swap as normal.Any news on joining for their 3 months offer, but swaping for McCoy (or any ther record)? I'm in the same sort of world as you but I will say VMP's remasters and AAA Classics track sounds awesome. Their Blue Note pressings rival the quality of Music Matters/AP IMO (with not as nice packaging). I do think a lot of people unfairly write them off as snobbery with people thinking a vinyl club is a gimmick but they do tend to care about the remastering. They partner with lots of great remastering studios and most Classics are pressed at QRP or RTI.Yeah, I don't think it would be the physical product so much as the titles and their selections, but again, a lot of what I'm into prob isn't anything (for the most part) VMP would license (then again they did sonny sharrock...)
The article I saw didn't specify. But I assume, perhaps unfairly, that the US holds a huge market share of vinyl purchasers. I believe the ranking was Amazon, Urban Outfitters, Newbury then VMP. This was I think from 2017.In the US, not the world surely? Unless like with baseball you only need to win in one country to be world champions

Yeah, I mean I think it's fair to say for the most part Jazz collectors can smell BS from a mile away, so them being on point is good, for sure, but also they are smart enough to know they kind of have to beI'm in the same sort of world as you but I will say VMP's remasters and AAA Classics track sounds awesome. I also think they have been crushing it with the jazz releases lately.
That makes sense. Thanks for your reply! There isn't much that I'm grabs my eye among the previous Esentials and RHH. If they would at least let me sawp for Celia and Johnny I'd be in.You can join with any previous ROTM in essentials or hip hop only. The deal says Classics are not part of the deal. When I did the deal last time, I signed up with Jorge Ben and it was shipped to me within a few days.
Yeah that was a US list, I remember VMP publicising it. Amazon are undoubtedly the worlds biggest but the other 3 aren’t really significant players outside the US and funnily enough Europe, Canada, the land down under, Japan etc etc are pretty damn significant markets!
I would assume this may be Disk Union or Tower if I had to guessThis was the article I saw it in. I'm guessing they mean retailer of NEW records, vs new + used which I'm sure discogs or ebay is #1, or maybe still Amazon. You're right though--I looked it up and on their kickfurther campaign, they said they sell over $10 million per year in records and are the 3rd largest online record seller in the US.
I'd be curious to see who sells the top 5 online in the world. You're right in that Amazon is likely #1 but maybe somewhere in Japan is #2.
Sadly, they would not let me manually swap last time and you cannot join with a swap since swaps are closed. Maybe if you talk to a CS person they will let you swap but they are doing the deal with RHH and Essentials because the former ROTMs of those haven't sold out a to so they are trying to offload inventory. That makes sense. That is incorrect though hah. You can join with ANY former ROTM that was an essentials or RHH. If you go to their archive page and do "join with this record" on any former RHH or Essentials, the price is marked down correctly. It does not work with any Classics releases.

If I swaped for store credit, would I then be able to add the classics track with that money? I remember back in the days I could add a track even after my main track was charged, so I guess that would be a posibility, right? I mean, if I can get McCoy, Celia Cruz or even use the credits towards Sonny Sharrock, then I'm in. Otherwise, I don't want to give in to FOMO and buy records that I dont REALLY want.

I thought the problem was that you couldn’t swap at all right now, including for credit. If I swaped for store credit, would I then be able to add the classics track with that money? Wanted it and waited. oh well.Wow, I must have been one of the last to pick this up. I used the credit from passing on John Mayer to buy it a few hours ago.
Oh damn is that what they're doing? Offering a $20 swap credit (1/3rd of the $60 buy-in)? Thereby making you drop another $5 to get Sahara? YikesMan it's $20. Believe me, some non-member is going to pay you $20 for Prince Paul or that retched Mayer filth. Don't take credit- you are only going to likely get $20 of it
I mean...yea it makes sense. You have to subscribe for 3 months to get the deal and the deal knocks monthly price to $20/month. Wouldn’t make sense to give you more than $20 in swap credits. To be honest I’m surprised they even let you swap for credit.Oh damn is that what they're doing? Offering a $20 swap credit (1/3rd of the $60 buy-in)?
