Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Any news on joining for their 3 months offer, but swaping for McCoy (or any ther record)? I sent an email asking a couple of days ago, but have had no luck. Has anyone tried this yet?
I tried to get the 3 for 2 with Blossom and they canceled my order instead of swapping for Mayer. Think they kind of know they picked a shit record of the month and just trying to hold subscribers. Still want to grab blossom but might just wait it out. I could always use the crap 10%off for my National record that looks nothing...like absolutely nothing...like the what was advertised.

And they didn’t even offer me the credit option. The customer service honestly used to be great.

Man, that's a bummer. I guess I'm better off signing to classics for 1 month in order to get Sahara and buy Sonny Sharrock from the sotre. Then maybe stay one more month and get BVSC

I mean...yea it makes sense. You have to subscribe for 3 months to get the deal and the deal knocks monthly price to $20/month. Wouldn’t make sense to give you more than $20 in swap credits. To be honest I’m surprised they even let you swap for credit.

I'm curious if that will change for the second month of the deal or if they will allow for swaps.
I signed back up after a year of being out because it's a good deal but I'll burn my collection before I let them send me a John Mayer record.

Oh damn is that what they're doing? Offering a $20 swap credit (1/3rd of the $60 buy-in)? Thereby making you drop another $5 to get Sahara? Yikes
Swap for credit always gives you what you pay monthly as credit. So 20$ in this case. It is more interesting for Intel subscribers because you get like 36$ in swap credit.
Also given the store prices for classics ( 34$) with 20$ swap credit it would be 14$ extra for Sahara

With the current international offer (3 months for $87) you would get $29, if you would swap for credit.

Nope—same amount for month two. But you can switch tracks after the first month or swap for any of the swaptions. You don’t have to stay with RHH or essentials past the sign up record.

When I first see a cool coloured pressing I might initially think "thats cool", but after that initial feeling I couldnt care less what it looks like.

But I guess for me color rarity never was a selling point ever. And I’ve been buying vinylsince I was 16 so around 22 years. Sure it looks cool but I just wanted to listen to records

again, if you’re thing is the color variants. That’s cool. More power to you.

You mean you guys don’t just stand over your turntable and stare intently at the pretty colors on the vinyl while it spins every time you put a record on?

It spins around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and then you get to flip it over and do it all over again!

most of the 10k+ VMP subsribers than are smart

Spiritualized is going to sell 10k of this record in a month, so a 10% increase in a month of the entire sales life of this record (23 years).

That's nuts. I'm just guessing on 10 k, even if we lowered it to 5-7k just for that track, that is wild.

Where did you get your figures on how how many units Spiritualized sold. I'm sure they are right just intrigued, I remember when it came it out in the UK and was a big seller and marketed heavily, I think it charted in the top 5 album sales. At that that time CD's reigned, I wouldn't know how many vinyl units sold, but it was before digital music had taken off so I would have that CD sales would have been big.

I'm also assuming it wasn't a big seller outside of the UK.

So I rejoined VMP a day early to make sure I got Sahara and the Jonathan Richman exclusive. They tried to give me Albert King too, as I joined early, but I said no thanks, so instead I have credits (which is fine by me).

So jazzbos, I ordered Ambrose Akinmusire, but if I can only have one more jazz exclusive, what should I go with?

Walter Bishop - Coral Keys (This is what I'm leaning towards, although I have a lot of post-bop albums similar to this.)

Thelonious Monk - Palo Alto (Do I need another Monk live album? NM. Sold out)

Shabaka Hutchings (Great album, but it doesn't do anything special for me)

Sonny Sharok - Ask the Ages (Ltd to 2000?? This is a great album, and a true exclusive?!, but with that many pressed, and the fact it's free jazz, this is destined for the sale section in a couple months.)

Harold Alexander - Sunshine Man (Seems better as a sample than an album)

Sun Ra - Celestial Love (Interesting album, but not exactly prime Sun Ra)

Chet Baker - Mr. B (Seems good, but do I really need late period Chet Baker?)

Erroll Garner - Magician (I have enough Trad Piano jazz, but talk me into it?)

Save my credits (LMAO)

Erroll Garner really grew on me. Something about the intensity of the way he plays, it sounds like he's beating on the keys as if they owe him money. The pressing and sound quality, are, naturally, top-notch.

Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Coral Keys. I pre-ordered that one as well, and who knows how long it'll last in the store. I got burned on Monk's sudden sellout the other day.

Yup. I would have voted Monk with that list. Garner is good though. I think your first choice is probably your best.

Go for Sonny Sharrock. It is a killer album, and while I don't think it will sell out super fast, I wouldn't be so sure it will make it to the sale section. Unlike the other free jazz albums VMP has sold, this is somewhat of a cult classic, and one that was long overdue a quality vinyl release.

I don't have any of those, but I did get Patterson Twins, which VMP has labeled as "soft jazz and r&b" (so I'm not totally trolling you with this recommendation haha). I was pretty excited after streaming it on spotify and it sounds even better on my turntable.

I finally checked this album out and WOW!! The local record store here has the hive mind pressing for $35. I see it’s 45 RPM, anyone recommend it?
