Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

View attachment 57874

For anyone interested, the actual tracks from his self titled "Red Album" are the first 8 songs here:

When I clicked the VMP link it had his self titled 1987 album as the Spotify preview.

The Orchestra Baobab and Ali Farka Toure albums are from World Circuit Records (same label as Buena Vista Social Club) It seems like Orchestra Baobab is getting a standard release from them, but did not see a vinyl pressing of this particular Ali Farka Toure album.

Thanks for the heads up! I may pick up the standard release from them. Listening to it on Spotify right now and I’m really liking it.

Edit: $22 shipping to the States. Damn. I may have to buy from VMP...

Yes according to JPC the standard 2 lp of Orchestra Baobab Specialist in All Styles is coming up on September 25th. Also don't see anything about the Ali Farka Toure album.

After weeks of "meh," I want the bundle and that Bar-Kays.
My wallet is just grateful that every week is NOT like this.
Mmmmmmmm! I did not care for any of the drops last week or the week before, but this week has me like 👏😍🙋‍♂️😇🕺👀🙏 with nearly all the store drops!

Orchestra Baobab’s “Specialist in All Styles” is a magnificent store exclusive! One of the best store exclusives this year in my opinion, in regards of the music! I’m hoping the pressing sounds great! 🤞🙇‍♂️💎

Ali Farka Touré and The Bar-Keys were also exclusives I wanted and grabbed! I absolutely loved what I heard from briefly listening to both those albums! 👍

Does anyone have for Guy Davies (Ali, Baobab) on analog and with this type of music? -- I don't see of ton of references and his recent work is across a pretty broad spectrum. That combined with GZ are the big open questions for me... the two albums are great :)

Thanks, but it's got a general release and I'm totally done with VMP so I'll just get the normal one. Orchestre Baobab are one of the greatest ever African bands and I'd really recommend this (although, somewhat snobbily, I'd say the original versions of these songs from the 70s are the best).
EDIT: Just seen Ali Farka Toure, and I'd be more interested in this as haven't seen an announcement for a reissue. That said his red and green albums aren't that expensive to pick up as OGs - I've seen them for about £45 each but had been waiting to pick them up both from the same seller.

Ali Farka Toure is the man. If this will be available elsewhere, then I’ll wait. I am embarrassed by how I learned of him though—an ex made me watch Unfaithful with her years ago and it’s a very noticeable needle drop
