Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I'm sure VMP was bugged to see the PIF thread on there with some people PIF'ing records that were basically fine but said they had replacement(s).

Keyword - some. There's a lot of legit warps/issues; but in my time I've definitely seen some ones that I were surprised were asked/being replaced.

My bigger concern would be resale if I’m them.

That’s why documenting the problem was essential and I have always done that. To insinuate I’m taking advantage of their policy when I’ve provided video proof is something else.

I certainly think the occurrence of warps in VMP products is concerning and having a generous CS helps ameliorate the high rate along with above average costs. I don’t think the high rate of warps are acceptable, and instead of axing CS and other benefits, it would behoove them to fix the weak link in their supply chain.

Yeah, I was just making a point of what I've witnessed in general. Had nothing to do with your situation. There's definitely a lot of warps and issues.

VMP replacement policy going to go the way of LL Beans

Yeah, I am fine with asking for proof now (I thought they should have from the get-go) but is very insulting to send that message to someone who does. I am not sure how much they can help prevent warps without the entire pressing industry changing, mather gets warps from everyone even places that are known for not having them.

"Customers get angry on the forum whenever there's misinformation or widespread issues? Axe the forum"

"Customers getting angry over details not being communicated correctly? Stop communicating details"

"Customers need replacement copies because QC is down and we don't hold back enough replacement stock? Stop sending out replacements"

VMP has recently pivoted heavy towards the "what is the worst possible way we could address this issue?" mind state

I don’t think there’s any way to prevent warps, but certainly their packing or warehouse practices don’t help

So in response to my reporting the Morby warp:

To provide context, in the last two months I’ve ordered just under 30 records and only write CS about scratches or static that effect playback, major cosmetic issues or warps that are bad enough to note the tone arm moving and I always provide video proof. I also just notify them of the problem and never ask for a particular remedy. After the De La fiasco, I email as I discover them.

Got to say I’m pretty pissed at VMP right now for the insinuation that I’m taking advantage of their CS
They need to hire someone with a little more tact to write for them, and I mean write everything that is released to the public...........there are a million ways to say something and they always do it the wrong way.

Well, my box arrived and 8 out of 16 records had corner crushes and jacket creases due to careless packaging. I sent an email to Paul with pictures expressing concerns, and he responded basically, "So what do you want?"

I said, "Nothing for this, but you guys should do better." He responded, "Good." I clearly sensed a tone of frustration during the exchange.

Perhaps the end of the forum was prelude to the end of customer service.

Really trying to think of a reason not to cancel my subscription and preorders after the response I got.

I would really recommend you two to forward these experiences to Matt directly. If this is truly a calculated change in the attitude and guidelines of CS, then that’s fucking atrocious, but it’d be good to hear that directly from Matt to confirm, that way we can all plan accordingly (I know I would certainly not buy from VMP again). But if these are just unplanned outbursts, then that would definitely be something that deserves to be known by the CEO

I think of it as an isolated incident coming from work stress, and I certainly would not put Paul in a tough spot by escalating this issue with Matt.

Does someone have Matt’s email?

Right - and the whole PIF thing only works because some people's standards for what is acceptable warpage/damage is lower than others. It's a very individual thing.
