Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Stars update from CS, i had re-listened to my copy and the pops during Calendar Girl were pretty bad so I emailed in:

"I'm bummed to hear that your copy of 'Set Yourself on Fire' is exhibiting that noise and popping on the last track – you are correct that we've identified it as being part of a larger pressing issue. We're closing talks with the label and pressing plant now to do a repress of that record and send out new, clean discs to all of our customers who've purchased that title. At the moment, I'm not aware of a timetable for that repress, but it's understood that we want it as soon as feasible.

We'll be sending out more official communication once it's all concrete..."
This is excellent news! I am happy it looks like we will be getting a repress sent to us! As I’m overseas, my copy is still sealed. So I’m going to sell my copy for around $10-$15 in Australia. Why not!😂💰

Was there a pressing issue with Jazz Samba? Got a copy sealed 2nd hand copy. No visible issues but a persistent hiss throughout all of side A. Side B is fine.

I had that with my copy but it wasn’t there when played on a different system. Try it on a friend’s to see if the noise persists

Originally had Isley Brothers. Really buckled down and did an analysis of the records that I would absolutely spin the most from the swaps available that I don't own yet. Ended up with Phoenix. I feel like I've been buying mostly hip-hop records lately, so I don't mind a little more alternative/rock in my collection.

Could still be swayed in the direction of any of the following:
  • Sleater-Kinney
  • Queen Latifah
  • Open Mike Eagle
  • Camp Lo
  • Al Green
  • T.I.
  • Feist
I feel like if it isn't a month where one of the three subs is a no-brainer for me, I am stuck between deciding on several mehhhs, and more often than not, I make the decision based on general consensus, scarcity, or value. And then I end up with a record that I never listen to. I, at least, know that I like that Phoenix album.

@MattHasIdeas - Get Feist! It’s a debut superb album. It’s diverse musically, charming, delicate, sensual and is an album that reminds you of spring and autumn 👌

Al Green is my other pick. That album is so soulful and sexy it hurts so bad! Al Green’s voice just caresses you and melts you and puts you to bed 😉

Al Green or Feist!!! Pick both of them up!!! 💎

I feel like I couldn’t really get into Feist on first listen. I liked Mushaboom alright. I’ll listen to it again in full while I get some work done today and see if I change my mind!

There are already 2 different colour variations out there; Secretly Store (opaque marine) and indie store (clear). If VMP jumps on this, it would be overkill but hey, they released a Brittany Howard variant when there are already a bunch so who knows...
Yeah that aquamarine looks pretty too. Was surprised that it's a double LP given only 11 tracks...curious to see the song timings and if she's going to stretch out a bit like some of the songs on side B of My Woman, which I would love...

Maybe this won't help, but the new vinyl remaster sounds leagues better than the stream. I'd loved Feist for a long time but never really got into this album until VMP did it. The pressing (which has a couple pops-and-clicks issues on a couple songs that you'll need to check for) truly does sound incredible.

New Angel Olsen album in ever so boring coke bottle clear

Also $3 more for just the album than the other places are charging for vinyl cd + 7”...

As for now, I really don't know which Angel Olsen variant to buy
- Crystal Clear: It's working with the album art, but I already own plenty records on Clear Vinyl
- Aquamarine Opaque: Don't own that one, but at least for now, without seeing the full artwork or knowing the songs, this doesn't seem to fit?!?
- Coke Bottle Clear: For some reason I managed not to own a single record on Coke Bottle Clear till now. But it's also a questionable choice, altough it matches with the VMP "Blue Eye"-Extra cover art. But at 33$ plus International non member shipping this costs nearly double the amount of the other two...

At least none of the variants seems super limited, so no rush for now.
