Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Just got an email saying Juvenile's 400 Degreez and Method Man's Tical have been restocked.

Tical might be enough to get me to resub if it shows up as a swaption later this month.

I love this album and have the black version which has been available for a long time already from Mr Bongo & other retailers. Mr B actually has 2 different versions of this available now on black vinyl and I'm not sure what the difference is between them.

I know this is responding to an old post - but I move at glacial pace with my upgrades right now, work has kept me away from home and largely out of country for, oh, about the last two years....any way, I just ordered a Marantz SA-KI Ruby SACD/CD from MD. They've got them on clearance for the same price ($3K) as the SACD 30N (I don't really see any other places carrying the Ruby's and they were advertised as limited in number so I'm assuming deadstock at this point).

In reality, I really wanted the best SACD/CD player in my price range. Second, the bluetooth and WIFI capability. I don't really care about the streaming from different providers (I don't have any Tidal, Spotify, Pandora, etc.)

To supplement the BT/WIFI cape that I'm not getting with the Ruby, I'm gonna get a cheapo Audioengine BT RX that is advertised as having a 100FT range. My PC in my office should be more than close enough (even with walls) to send my large digital library on my PC to my stereo (ok, it's not WIFI but it will produce the same result).

Anyway, thought I'd follow up on this ancient discussion.

Edit: I also hear Marantz is raising its prices so I expect the SACD 30n to go up in price soon.

The marantz SACDs have a pretty awesome built in DAC and a USB input to allow for an external source. If I wanted network I’d probably get a usb output streamer like the Project S2 ultra, IFI Zen Stream or the new Musical Fidelity MX-Stream (or if it’s near enough just direct connect to Laptop/PC/iPad etc) and make double use of the Marantz DAC.

If there are walls involved, do not be surprised if that 100ft range is more limited than expected. I would be very surprised if someone hasn't done some sort of raspberry pi custom image for exactly this type of setup. (But I personally don't know of any since I haven't had call to look for one myself)
There seem to be some DIY Pi streamer kits and directions around. I may make one for shits n giggles no matter what cause it looks fun.

Yeah, there's volumio and Picoreplayer that are pretty popular for Pi Streamer builds. Volumio unfortunately requires a premium subscription to do some of the more advanced features like Tidal Connect, bluetooth playback and some hardware support features. PiCoreplayer is basically built on the old Logitech Media server platform and looks to be completely free for all of its features. I'm planning on doing a Pi streamer but Pi 4B's of any kind are basically impossible to come by at this time.

Yeah I’ve been running them using volumio for a good 6 years now and they’re great. I’m finally reaching the point when I’d like a bit more but I’ve no regrets from messing with them and the various HiFiBerry hats for them. I played around with a lot of software before landing on volumio. AirPlay, RoonBridge and Spotify connect are all free on it but yeah you need to pony up for Tidal Connect or Qobuz.

The newer "Special Edition" features tip-on sleeve and OBI, half-speed mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, and is going for an extra £3. I actually have a copy on the way from Mr. Bongo.

Then the £3 is for tip-on sleeve and the obi since all these recent reissues are 1/2 speed mastered by Showell... audio wise it seems like they should all sound the same. My "regular" black reissue copy sounds good but the Chris Schilder Ibrahim Khalil Shihab Spring reissue that I bought at the same time from Matsuli Music, which also features Mankunku, sounds even better!

Did the previous batch of Jazz Dispensary titles (Purdie, Axelrod, etc) ever show up in swaps? I want to get Melvin Sparks, but I don't want to $45 get it.
