Why can't you be cheaper...

This fucking company is starting to compromise my future retirement fund.

Except it would seem sales are down for the year so far. The industry may decide to market correct or fleece us for what they can while they can.
Don’t underestimate the avarice and short-sightedness of any corporation. Grab that $5 today instead of working to build a sustainable industry for the future. Not like what happened to the music industry at the turn of the century will ever, ever happen again.

People think just because it is a vinyl record, they can charge stupid prices. Even artists with who have next to no following are over charging but certainly VMP and others are extremely guilty of it. I wonder how much VMP makes off each record they sell?

Enough that they can essentially give away several box sets in swaps. Yes this was done to great buzz and FOMO, but also didn’t hurt their bottom line either.

isn't giving away stuff for way below cost of manufacturing also a way to get tax writeoffs? i see tons of companies doing this with stock that isn't selling. Then they can claim it as a loss. So it probably helps companies in more ways than one to do this. Generates buzz for titles that haven't sold out and have been sitting for awhile + tax writeoffs.

Sly's gotta fund his drug habit somehow.

I know times change but I remember when the government sued the music industry over price fixing on CDs because they were overpriced (but still under $20).
Initially new vinyl in between $20 and $30 was okay since it was a bit of a niche market but $50 for a single LP is silly. There are very few instances where that price makes sense.
