Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

So, D’Angelo was supposed to be an open order too but then they announced a number and said it was close to selling out. TLDR: I don’t think they even get it.

It actually makes sense. They had an open pre-order for a certain amount of time, then when VMP went to the pressing plant they chose a pressing quantity size offered nearest to their open order amount (because the pressing plant isn’t gonna press like exactly 1,341 records that were pre-ordered but they may offer a nice round number like 1,500 instead). Then whatever extra ones the plant would be willing to press were made available until it sold out.

To my knowledge, you can order how many you want. My guess would be 1500 was the next threshold.

All I’m saying is open orders have an end date not a quantity decided upon later. My theory is it didn’t sell as quick as they thought it would and decided to create a bit of fomo.

The feeding frenzy over the initial run of Frank Ocean’s Blonde was you had a two day window to order and that was it.

If we’re talking about D’Angelo when it first went up for sale someone in discord asked how long it’d be available as an open pre-order and Storf said something like “we have to put our order in with the plant in two weeks if we want to make the September release window” so probably after two weeks they determined 1,500 would be the closest threshold to meet and it went from “open order no quantity” to “1,500 to sell out” which it did about a week or so later.

I imagine Barter 6 will be handled in a similar manner.

That part doesn’t surprise me. It just seems like a great way for them to fuck up the one part of their service which mostly functions well.

It does? Customer service isn’t just the guy who responds and fixes the problem, it’s a holistic approach across the business that means there are less problems to react to. The fact that people know and loves an individual member of a customer service team that reacts well to fix shit shows demonstrates just how utterly terrible they are at it.

I don’t disagree with you about customer service as a whole.

Not that I was a big proponent of it or user for that matter, but is there any real reason to have a discord anymore since they don't even give store drop hints. I guess now it is just GIFS.
