Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Yep. I have toussaint and black keys preordered. Also have the love supreme and fela boxes. All were paid for in credit so it’s not like I’ll get real money back if I cancel so I’m leaving the orders and hoping for the best
Anyone who paid up for Love Supreme or Blue Note has to be feeling a bit nervous at the minute.

Pretty sure most of my nonesuch orders were swaps for credit from my monthly so I’d still technically paid for them. Just need to work out if the value is less than the Impulse box they sent by mistake to work out if I’m down or not.

Yea I would have cancelled ALS if it wasn’t paid for with referral credit. Not feeling great about the prospects. And wouldn’t have anything in stock to get with the credit anyway.

As for discord going dark, i think many people who wanted to talk about music and records were tired of all the doom and gloom so they bounced.

Is the general view that preorders are getting pushed because they don’t have the funds to pay that plants want before they’ll release them?
i don't know about general view, but things sure seem to point toward cash flow issues. plants have capacity now so year long delays don't make sense, especially on stuff like Black Sabbath which already has plates cut. we also know VMP has said things are tough financially themselves and they are trying to "right the ship".

The other explanation for delays on stuff that had plates cut already is that the VMPlant had the plates and it's been tough getting them from VMPlant...

The lack of comms isn't surprising, but once again just an absolutely awful look. nothing inspires confidence like blowing past shipping deadlines with no communications, preorders being constantly delayed and VMP staff going AWOL on discord (even though I believe those are for personal reasons).

Just had a look and my actual cash outlay on the 5 Nonesuch I’ve on pre-order is $75 and the rest was swaps for credit.

So it’s trying to work out if leaving the order live is equivalent to putting the money on a random horse…. or if it’s more like sticking it a paper bag, pissing on it and then launching it into the sea.

swaps for credit is still money you spent though haha. i get that you'd just get credit in return most likely but...

March 25
I thought it was originally supposed to be January, but as it's November it just looks that much worse.
I'm expecting a cancellation of this one for me any time as an International.

Hey @MikeH anything of interest in the Pauly chat?
as for why storf and paul have been absent from discord, storf is taking a bit of a break from the discord because his mom is in hospice 300 miles away from him and dying. paulie was really sick and also has had personal stuff going on that he didn't want to get into. he's also been just really busy with CS, work, etc. they seemed genuine about it and i don't blame storf for taking a break from the server mentally. he was also close friends with Cam and that whole thing got real fucked up with the lawsuit (he didn't say this directly but has hinted at it before).

IMO, it's really unfair to make those guys have to go out and address the elephant in the room. Matt should do it, but we all know he can't handle the heat. i know storf and paul have been made the defacto voices of VMP (and much of that is on them for interacting directly with people) but if they need to check out for their sanity, someone else needs to step in. someone asked them again if they have a comms person and they said no.

nothing else of note really. blaming other stuff for delays (RHH was delayed which held up a bunch of orders and they thought it would be fixed before thanksgiving but didn't get sorted until after everyone logged off on wednesday.) game show orders have been delayed a bit because the warehouse inventory didn't match the small numbers of stuff they sold but that should be sorted now. usual blame game. oh and thanksgiving happened which slowed things down...you know--that holiday that nobody knew was coming. i checked out of the chat after a bit.

i think neither storf nor paul have any insight into the company financials or inner dealings whatsoever. which is probably why they were trotted out and made to do an impromptu chat like that to quell any fears.
