i don't know about general view, but things sure seem to point toward cash flow issues. plants have capacity now so year long delays don't make sense, especially on stuff like Black Sabbath which already has plates cut. we also know VMP has said things are tough financially themselves and they are trying to "right the ship".Is the general view that preorders are getting pushed because they don’t have the funds to pay that plants want before they’ll release them?
if it ships in mid december, i'll buy and eat a VMP hat.I have only the Fela, but paid with cash. It still says Mid-December. Any further delays and I’ll cancel.
swaps for credit is still money you spent though haha. i get that you'd just get credit in return most likely but...Just had a look and my actual cash outlay on the 5 Nonesuch I’ve on pre-order is $75 and the rest was swaps for credit.
So it’s trying to work out if leaving the order live is equivalent to putting the money on a random horse…. or if it’s more like sticking it a paper bag, pissing on it and then launching it into the sea.
Which might just cover my shipping costs for a dinked Lapsey as I’m international non grataswaps for credit is still money you spent though haha. i get that you'd just get credit in return most likely but...
Yes, the last update on this was in September. I am not optimistic.if it ships in mid december, i'll buy and eat a VMP hat.
maybe you might consider taking this off . i get that it´s a public insta story, but feel uncortable replicating someone elses ( who is not in this forum) personal struggles hereYes, the last update on this was in September. I am not optimistic.

as for why storf and paul have been absent from discord, storf is taking a bit of a break from the discord because his mom is in hospice 300 miles away from him and dying. paulie was really sick and also has had personal stuff going on that he didn't want to get into. he's also been just really busy with CS, work, etc. they seemed genuine about it and i don't blame storf for taking a break from the server mentally. he was also close friends with Cam and that whole thing got real fucked up with the lawsuit (he didn't say this directly but has hinted at it before).Hey @MikeH anything of interest in the Pauly chat?
Is it too much of a rose tinted view to think that even at its most chaotic that the old VMP (old forum era) was much more coordinated than the current shower?as for why storf and paul have been absent from discord, storf is taking a bit of a break from the discord because his mom is in hospice 300 miles away from him and dying. paulie was really sick and also has had personal stuff going on that he didn't want to get into. he's also been just really busy with CS, work, etc. they seemed genuine about it and i don't blame storf for taking a break from the server mentally. he was also close friends with Cam and that whole thing got real fucked up with the lawsuit (he didn't say this directly but has hinted at it before).
IMO, it's really unfair to make those guys have to go out and address the elephant in the room. Matt should do it, but we all know he can't handle the heat. i know storf and paul have been made the defacto voices of VMP (and much of that is on them for interacting directly with people) but if they need to check out for their sanity, someone else needs to step in. someone asked them again if they have a comms person and they said no.
nothing else of note really. blaming other stuff for delays (RHH was delayed which held up a bunch of orders and they thought it would be fixed before thanksgiving but didn't get sorted until after everyone logged off on wednesday.) game show orders have been delayed a bit because the warehouse inventory didn't match the small numbers of stuff they sold but that should be sorted now. usual blame game. oh and thanksgiving happened which slowed things down...you know--that holiday that nobody knew was coming. i checked out of the chat after a bit.
i think neither storf nor paul have any insight into the company financials or inner dealings whatsoever. which is probably why they were trotted out and made to do an impromptu chat like that to quell any fears.
No. I think it was. One thing has been clear since Matt took back over, he thinks they got too big for their Britches. To be clear though, they have always struggled with scale (at least during my time since Lapsley)Is it too much of a rose tinted view to think that even at its most chaotic that the old VMP (old forum era) was much more coordinated than the current shower?
more coordinated but i think simply because they were smaller in terms of subscribers, had less options/tracks, didn't have swaps for a bit, etc. their tech/site is broken. they were fucked by the plant stuff and trying to dig themselves out of a hole.Is it too much of a rose tinted view to think that even at its most chaotic that the old VMP (old forum era) was much more coordinated than the current shower?
they struggle with scale because they are horrendously disorganized. they still use spreadsheets that need to be manually updated for when things come into stock...nobody within the company seems to communicate to any other area of the company.No. I think it was. Which based on the record I’ve heard (another one on the way) seems to have been completely worth it and would have set the company up to survive the nonsense of rising costs and the smaller pool of shit to pull from. It would have been an incredible asset if Trump does go all Tariff happy. The board sounds like it is just as populated as actual staff of the company. they definitely got too big and cam kept pushing them to expand and expand. probably to get more cash to get the plant running.
the quality is excellent at that plant. but VMP was never going to be able to scale up to press every ROTM and store drop there. They said at most they were gonna do classics and MAYBE one other track well down the line. they were not going to press records for other companies there and were still going to use GZ or other plants to press essentials and other tracks/drops. and the plant is great now because they don't have the stress of meeting monthly deadlines, can do proper quality control, etc.Which based on the record I’ve heard (another one on the way) seems to have been completely worth it and would have set the company up to survive the nonsense of rising costs and the smaller pool of shit to pull from.
