i agree that if the plant was set up well and run correctly, it would have been a great asset for them. but i don't think VMP would have done as good a job running it as intended.

The board has 6 or 8 people I think (or had?) and 11 full time employees. it is fucked up.

i think technically they had no equity in it. so it was not their plant. and half of the board voted against pursuing it at all. cam cast the deciding self-dealing vote.

i know nothing, but my read is they really wanted to be acquired by someone and the plant fucked it up. and they probably didn't discover anything about cam funneling money into the plant until they were gearing up to sell and realized that stuff was being hidden in the books.

interesting one of the guys being sued retained separate counsel and claims that VMP nearly went under a few years ago and he brought them back into profitability but then was fired.
 
Whoaaaa, this was one of my most listened to mixtapes back in the day. I remember even Nas cosigned this as being incredible. Would someone maybe be open to snagging it for me since my membership is up? :[

I’m guessing it just got stuck with Black Friday shipping. I’d bet you still get it but worth emailing if you’re worried about it

I think at this point you probably understand the risk but if it were me, I would be requesting a cancel/refund. If they go belly up you won’t be getting a refund or a box set. Most of those albums are now in print and sound fantastic. If they ever do restock the title you could order the box set then but I wouldn’t want to be the one left holding the bag.

Finally got my VmP Voodoo and I’m definitely underwhelmed. It’s so quiet? I have to crank 3-4 steps more than most other records just to get it at a good listening level.

It’s not BAD but it’s not great, it’s a fine pressing of the album but I think my LITA copy is a bit better. Also mine has a loud click for a minute in One Mo’Gin so I’ll be requesting a replacement.

I relistened to it and found the bass is so cranked on disc 1. Very bloated and distracting to me. I have a replacement coming for constant surface noise on disc 2
