Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I don’t like this Sir Babygirl album much though. It’s boring to my ears. The music sounds polished yet simultaneously all over the place. The vocals in my opinion sound thin and a bit whiny, especially when she sings in her higher register. The only moment I liked on that album was the stripped back, sweet “Flirting with Her (Reprise)”.

I absolutely love the colour variant and I like that it’s only $20! Unfortunately I just don’t care for the album at all.

Totally agree sadly. I had high hopes for this record and it sadly did nothing for me. I do still think they have soooooo much potential though and I can't wait to see what they do in the future

As much as I love Blue Note, Motown, and Stax (and I really do), I dont like the idea of the first 3 anthologies being these. Storf said they put more side tracks on hold in favor of anthology as it lets them do the same thing with less of an overall commitment but instead what we're getting is essentially another Classics track marketed differently. Don't get me wrong I love classics, have every single release, and will be on board for all 3 of these box sets but I wish they'd show a little more diversity.

Motown is pretty much confirmed and Im pumped for that. And a Stax one down the line would be great, I just really hope they do something a little different before that.

Agreed. I think my other issue is both are coinciding with pushes from the label itself. Motown is doing that AAA Kevin Gray box and BN did their similar 80th Anniversary series. At this point most collectors are going to be torn between buying the label's box or VMPs. Not that this is bad thing to have a high saturation, but it seems to be going against their own preference for highlighting the overlooked stuff. Plus they are bound to get more of the B-list stuff than whatever the label itself puts out. But ultimately I do get it, most folks (me included) will only drop $100 on a label they already know, so you're going to be reaching for the heavy hitters like BN, Motown and Stax.

That's a shame... still haven't listened to mine - guess I better get on that (and lower my expectations).
Hey I mean Joe Harley (guy that does Tone Poet) claimed he has a clean black copy so maybe they do exist but both of my VMP copies are so terrible it's not worth continuing the search. Not to mention the cheapest gatefold possible combined with the cheapest sandpaper sleeves possible, I'll take my 33 bucks and get something else.

FKA says it's pressed at "lrp" does anyone know what that is? I can't think of a pressing plant that starts with "L".

Likely these folks.

Haven't heard great stuff, pretty sure they're of the same ilk as Rainbo, MRP, Erika and URP. I have the deluxe LP of LP1 and EP2 and both are pressed at Optimal, pretty quiet and nice, with dedicated cuts. I wonder if Young Turks is doing a US and European order on this record.

Ah, I didn’t know his account was private. His post was a picture of a few books about Stax Records & Otis Redding, a book about Sam & Dave and a book about Donald “Duck” Dunn with just the caption “research”.

Hmm...Every Otis album has been reissued, so unless they’re doing one of the posthumous albums, some of which are quite good, I doubt it’s Otis.

Sam & Dave is kinda the same. Their big four albums all have recent represses, so unless we’re getting Sam & Dave’s sixth best alb...Nevermind, Sam & Dave’s Back At’Cha! confirmed.
