Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

The biggest fuck up IMO during the Cam years was overpressing and doing constant 40% off sales. Made nobody want to ever pay full price for a release and tanked the whole VMP aftersale market. If you can get a VMP record for $20-25 on discogs or in a sale, why pay $40+? So then they are stuck with overpressing but people swapping for credit to hopefully get those records cheaper later.
Yeah I totally feel weird paying full price for their stuff now. I assumed that’s why they went other routes recently to raise capital (the vault stuff, selling to distributors and stores). Which makes a lot of sense because it doesn’t condition your customer base to unsustainable prices.

Also I feel weird paying full price because full price is usually way too damn much. I’m not sure how they fix that last part, especially with less scale (exclusivity I guess).

So they completely changed the club. Seems like some shit went haywire after the switch, like people haven’t gotten their credit yet and discounts aren’t working properly (although I’m not convinced people truly understand this one)…. So of course there is a lot to bitch about and staff seems to have exited the discord AND there are reports that CS isn’t responding at all and/or worse than when they went to the new offshore people (and blamed it on “training” and backlog left from the old staff?). Does that accurately summarize things?

At least they didn’t trade Luka Doncic?

Game changer

I also have all of the Classics up until September when my membership ended. I'm starting to really fall behind monetarily with them... I think I'm missing like 5 or 6 now.

I had them all up until Touch of Schmilsson. That broke the spell because it showed how little thought VMP was still giving to curation. At the very least, if you couldn't get any of the titles you wanted that would actually fit Classics or were forced into it because they wouldn't let it be a store exclusive but it was a contractual obligation to include it, be (somewhat) honest with your subscribers. You can't say all of that, but to pretend it belonged in Classics, or was even a good album (Storf with his finest BS) everyone should own, was too far for me.

On the plus side, thanks to that & the price increase my last title with the sub was Teo, and since I no longer have a complete set I can go back at my leisure and see which of the subsequent Classics I actually want to pick up on Discogs or eBay.
