Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Same. Never out of my way but if I come across one a a reasonable price I’ll pick it up.
I did get the Alice Coltrane acoustic sounds test pressing of Journey to Satchinada (spelling) a few months before it was released which was kinda cool. Accidentally went on sale at the center stage store and I think it was the same price the album ended up being.

Ha, yeah, the one I have is the Black Saint and Sinner Lady from that series (one of my favorite albums). I think it was listed for $60 and I got it in a 40 off sale on Center Stage

Mostly collectibility at this point although there are a lot out there of unreleased mixes or masterings that never made it out into the world for one reason or another. There are a bunch of VMP ones for unreleased albums (Nilsson Sings Lee Newman, Lauryn Hill MTV unplugged I think, and more). Those won’t be in the sale. They did say they typically got 3 test pressings for most albums unless it’s something like Shabaka where the TP was rejected by the artist then they recut it.

I think in the modern day and age, test pressings aren’t likely to sound much better than the general release and they often don’t include the album sleeve. Back in the day, many records probably got much bigger pressings so the test pressing likely did sound better than the 100,000th record off the presses from worn stampers.

I’m with @TenderLovingKiller® that white label promos are pretty rad.
Harry Nilsson had a Time Machine and recorded an album of songs I wrote? I guess I should get on writing some songs for when he gets here.

Test pressing sale for members on Tuesday. $35 for 1, $90 for 3, $120 for 5 if you have the 15% member discount. Can’t buy specific titles but will be mystery style…based by track. Each of the former ROTM tracks including rock and country, Dolly track, anthology album test pressings, store exclusive test pressings (including rising).

I believe they said Members for first 48 hours. Should be in stock so internationals should be able to use up last of their credit if they want.

Soon they'll have their furnitures for sale was well! Members only. Buy the desk where inner books were written and have a pice of music history. Two pens for free with every order.

One thing I’m curious about this test pressing sale is how they’re going to handle double albums. Will they break them up into separate units, or will they count them as the single unit?
Single unit. Explorations in sound, for example, would be 1 test pressing. I’m unsure of something like Sparklehorse or Gospel Truth though (they said both of those are in there).

Wonder how much VMP will start charging if Carrot-Man slaps a 25% tariff on EU imports?
Doesn't matter to me. Nothing VMP does is of interest to me anymore.

Might be interested in Budos Band, if they make it to May (but it will probably be delayed until 2027). That's it.

More concerned about Canada imposing a 25% retaliatory tariff on the formerly democratic U.S. - that will bump TP and other RTI/U.S. pressed vinyl way up.

FYI - Trump appears to have move on from tariffs, as he tanked the stock market last week.

😂

For what it’s worth, VMP said that they are trying to get some copies of all of these exclusives to a distributor in Canada and in Europe.
Its not exporting out of the US that it will be pricy. GZ is in the Czech Republic. A 25% tariff would be slapped on the records being imported into the US

I was saying it independently of the tariff convo. If Canadians wanted future VMP store exclusives they will possibly be available up there for similar price to what the other wholesale newer stuff is listed for at shops in Canada.

Yeah they've already popped up in some spots and the pricing is generally pretty good. Like $47 CAD
