Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

GZ has a plant in Nashville now.

Volume is the key with GZ main factory in Czechia. No other factory can press the same numbers really. It’s why back in the huge essentials numbers day that was the only place they could go.

"We are ecstatic to announce Nashville Record Pressing (NRP), a GZ Media Company, is officially setting up shop in Nashville."

This sentence is breaking my brain.

Yea this is old news I believe. They are way worse than GZ. GZ has plants all over the world. But as @Joe Mac said, GZ proper is the only one that can do the kinds of numbers VMP used to need on a monthly basis while also pressing tons of other records.

VMP started working with Furnace and other US plants more. The spiritualized repress that was in swaps this month was pressed at furnace and sounds better than the older VMP pressing.

They also shat the bed with curation, it got very very poor for an extended period.

I think that's less VMP's fault than one might imagine at first blush: they're pretty dependent on outside licensing; a lot of other companies have (as is now plainly evident) been holding some really good titles for themselves in order to make their own record club curation plans happen. Rhino, Verve, Craft, Interscope and all their subsidiaries have had or have published plans for some killer records. Interscope's press of Helmet's "Betty" was ok -- it's better than not having "Betty", I guess -- but it's definitely not on par with something that VMP would have done with it, had they had the licensing. It's not just VMP biting off more than they could chew (although looks like yeah that was a factor too though).

I liked the mix and match. Pulled 4 anthos and 1 exclusive. No Comedy Stores in the anthology ones apparently!
