It's a tough situation. Like most things in life, you should just use it if and how it benefits you. You don't have to explain yourself if you choose to stay, and you don't have to explain yourself if you decide that you don't want to. It's shitty. You do have a community of people here, that care, either way. I actually believe that it's fairly supportive. Everyone is just making whatever choices they need to, depending on their own circumstances. Also, these are just records.
Different people get different things from them. Some like the pressings. Some liked the pricing, but that's gone to shit. That's actually what continues to happen to a lot of members, the reasons that they are members continue to vanish. Flexibility, swaps, the ability to go month to month... these were reasons to be a member for a lot of people. Those reasons are gone. If your reasons are gone and it's just routine, maybe you should bounce. If they aren't, then you just have to weight the benefits. The pros and the cons. I talk shit, but I still bought Idler Wheel. Who knows if I'm going to fucking get it, though.
One thing that was discussed when we migrated over here was that a lot of people use(d) VMP for the curation. What you might notice, however, is that a lot of the "curation" was just them doing color variants of Mr Bongo and Now Again releases. I believe that, a lot of those who chose to leave the company then, have chosen to utilize the community here, whether via the pre-order thread or genre specific threads, to engage, get/give recommendations, join discussions, etc. A lot of people are taking that money that budget that they used to give to VMP and spending it elsewhere.
I understand that the whole thing can be tricky. As long as you feel in control, that's all that matters. Don't let yourself feeling overwhelmed or caught in anything. That being said, if you are getting jacked around, you have a right to speak up and ask for what you're paying for. Simple things like access to your own account and your orders arriving
Dont forget the N&G AoTMs, there has been more genuine passion in those 7 picks than in anything I ever got from VMP! And no one has picked a bloody Now Again record!
