Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

It's a tough situation. Like most things in life, you should just use it if and how it benefits you. You don't have to explain yourself if you choose to stay, and you don't have to explain yourself if you decide that you don't want to. It's shitty. You do have a community of people here, that care, either way. I actually believe that it's fairly supportive. Everyone is just making whatever choices they need to, depending on their own circumstances. Also, these are just records.

Different people get different things from them. Some like the pressings. Some liked the pricing, but that's gone to shit. That's actually what continues to happen to a lot of members, the reasons that they are members continue to vanish. Flexibility, swaps, the ability to go month to month... these were reasons to be a member for a lot of people. Those reasons are gone. If your reasons are gone and it's just routine, maybe you should bounce. If they aren't, then you just have to weight the benefits. The pros and the cons. I talk shit, but I still bought Idler Wheel. Who knows if I'm going to fucking get it, though.

One thing that was discussed when we migrated over here was that a lot of people use(d) VMP for the curation. What you might notice, however, is that a lot of the "curation" was just them doing color variants of Mr Bongo and Now Again releases. I believe that, a lot of those who chose to leave the company then, have chosen to utilize the community here, whether via the pre-order thread or genre specific threads, to engage, get/give recommendations, join discussions, etc. A lot of people are taking that money that budget that they used to give to VMP and spending it elsewhere.

I understand that the whole thing can be tricky. As long as you feel in control, that's all that matters. Don't let yourself feeling overwhelmed or caught in anything. That being said, if you are getting jacked around, you have a right to speak up and ask for what you're paying for. Simple things like access to your own account and your orders arriving

Dont forget the N&G AoTMs, there has been more genuine passion in those 7 picks than in anything I ever got from VMP! And no one has picked a bloody Now Again record!

Yes, but I’m not sure at how you want me to look at it. Because of the amazing, dedicated people who wanted to build this great community or because of VMP taking down the VMP forum?

I love Needles&Grooves ❤

But are we still very upset at VMP for taking down the old VMP forum with late notice and for not being real about it? I mean, it was really sad and pretty dishonest, but I don’t know if I’m being too lenient with VMP in regards to that?
If you went to a restaurant and overpaid for your meal and it came out after you waited for twice as long as other tables, it was burnt, and the server spilled your drink on you and then blamed you for it, you wouldn't go back, so I'm not sure why VMP should get the benefit of the doubt for running their business like a clown show.

Have they literally had a smooth roll out of anything in the past two years?

If I was shipped 25 copies by accident I would absolutely not send them back. I’d sell them for less than retail (like $5 less) on discogs. Cover the media mail and then donate the profits to a charity or something. That is just an inexcusable mistake from a company that’s been doing what they’re doing for over 5 years.

Well, I care for VMP as much as they care for our community : zero.
Mmmmmmm I feel you on that one.

I really care for both though, because I love both VMP and Needles&Grooves.

Like, VMP is perfect for me in terms of the vinyl hobby if you know what I mean. I don’t think they are a nasty company though. And they do have a lot of quality control problems and it’s likely that you will receive a warped record from them, but I still really enjoy them.

And I love Needles&Grooves because it’s such a fun group of people I’d love to all meet! I love everyone here, like everyone has their own personality and loves music and is real! Love the generosity of many of the people here too and I love the humour in this forum too!

Wait! Aren't you still banned? Did that not carry over to this forum?

Also...

If I get 20 copies I'm giving them away on the pif thread :ROFLMAO::LOL:

Yeah. I wouldn't send shit back. You make a good suggestion, though. They could always have people send them evidence of not receiving their orders and then use their refunds to purchase the album from them, instead. That way, they make money, the members get their albums, and VMP doesn't get shit

this is a really nice and well communicated post...

i do understand a lot of the frustration here especially over things like the removal of month to month and the swaps issue..

i guess i put too much passion into this and maybe had a bit too much sunk cost fallacy.. this entire situation with mobb deep is complete bullshit.. i'm hoping they are right and it only happened to a few people, if not goddammit i dunno what to do with my sub (nothing i want in the store, no other places i know that give me free shipping AND pretty colors, and not even interested in what will inevitably be a boring January)...

Wow! I’d like to pretend that I’d be this kind and not just raise funds for whales! Kudos!

can i ask where the idea of sending these records back even came from?

not that i doubt thats one thing they could be doing but i never had anything saying thats what they're doing

If it was you’d we’d set up some kind of raffle for the kind people of this site.

Here, I made this for you.

Now I'm not saying that the forum needs a downvote button, but if we had one, I think I'd know what post I'd use it on first.
Yo, on my orders page literally everything I've bought on VMP, both vinyl and membership resubs, all have the same tracking number. And that tracking number is for The Infamous.
Anyone else have the same issue?

Oh that's not a tracking number, that's how many copies of The Infamous you're getting. Stock up on Kallaxes

Well you may not be saying it but I will.. this forum needs a downvote button. #feature_request r/feature_request #wherestheline #amidoingthisright?

LOL don’t think I will get triggered by that comment 😂
I mean, honestly, I don't even recognize you from the old forum, 'cause I dipped out when it started going all Brian Jonestown Massacre. I appreciate that there were people with the wherewithal to get this place going, even though I don't have time to participate often.

But also the angst in here is thick enough to spread on a biscuit and eat it. A bit of schadenfreude every now and again is good seasoning.
