LOLHas VMP communicated any plans to grow their community lately?
I know when the forum was shutting down they reiterated their plans to grow their community...
This isn't on VMP, they can't control the distributor sending the wrong things.
I totally get, VMP has screwed a lot of things up here in the last year and that makes things like this add up. I guess I am able to compartmentalize these things and get why others can't.Regarding Hatchie/Weyes Blood. I understand the distributors role here. But also, this isn't going on in a vacuum.
If this was the only conversation going on right now then it wouldn't be different (I think). This is happening around the same time as lack of attention to detail/quality control, slower CS times, change of many terms of service, killing the community and general unpredictability. A lot of people feeling like VMP hasn't been straight with them and honestly feeling burned. Especially many of people's strong brand loyalty. So maybe those two examples were out of their control but unfortunately these errors are happening in a world where people have lost trust and felt burned by VMP.
The label moved their warehouse/distribution center and screwed everything up, the assumption has been made that only VMP's stuff has been missent without us having any other details. Look I am not letting VMP off the hook for their mistakes, maybe they could have set something up to have preferential treatment, but I don't think VMP could control and we are speculating that only VMP is affected. This is true, but is this preventable?
VMP pressings are special orders requiring special attention, and are probably produced separately from normal pressings. Then why does the distributor keep sending shipments to other retailers before it takes care of VMP?
Simply taking care of special pressings before getting to normal ones is what makes sense, but it does not appear to be done. It isn't as if VMP ended up with a bunch of normal pressings either. They keep ending up with bare hands or hands half full. I think how the process works has fundamental flaws.
I blame the parents
maybe all three use the same distributor from the pressing plant?Weyes Blood is on Subpop (Seattle WA) and Hatchie is on Double Double Whammy which is in the same location as Polyvinyl Records. (Champlain IL). DDW and PV teamed up.
they are sending out an email tomorrowSince it's been a few days now, did VMP comment publicly or to Hatchie customers?
They could have lost their entire run and then customers would be screwed or they could of lost 20 copies and then it would be OK.
Feels like VMP inventory/supply chain staff, plus comp systems would show where stock is or how much is MIA - or for VMP to pick up the phone and call other parties involved to get accurate counts? Not sure why it takes several days for something that could have an answer in a few hours at most.
Do you know anything further than that?they are sending out an email tomorrow

Emailed MattHow do you know - where are you getting the information from?
Sorry Monday, I forgot what today wasEmailed Matt
“We know. Same label, same issue. We're planning to get communication out about it on Monday”
Make sure you are rating your cs with him, I have only had him once and it was fine. But if he consistently is terrible they should know about it
Not sure how to respond to this besides saying I am super critical of their mistakes but I have a collector ocd thingAgreed, but you seem like a VMP fanboy. I'll give them credit where credit is due, but they are far from perfect.
Just for reference- my designation of perfect is Analogue Productions/Quality Record Pressing.
And I'll bet you thought I'd say MoFi.
