Vinyl Storage Recommendation

Been using an Ikea Kallax (4x2) laying horizontally for 3 years. However, I just bough a condo and am gonna need a new solution. The new spot is larger BUT buying required adding a roommate. And she has a fish tank that I need to make room for. Additionally, there is a fire place that takes up a big chunk of the new living room. Which means I don't have much of a choice but to put the TV above the fireplace and then buy a credenza for all the electronic equipment.

The good new is that means the record player can go with the other electronic equipment for once. The bad new is that it means, I'm low on space for record storage. Especially considering both of us have bikes that we don't trust having outside of the apartment.

Thus, I need storage that adds verticality and cuts down on the 58 inch length of the Kallax. I'm willing to spend a decent amount on a long term solution but really don't want spend more than 2k. And ideally would prefer to keep it closer to 1k. It's kind of wild how expense record storage is. Like, the Credenzia and kitchen table from a local Chicago furniture spot (that does gorgeous reburbish jobs) + a cheap corner desk are likely to cost me less accumulatively then a record storage solution.

I found this one-- and it fits what I'm looking for (about the same amount of storage as the Kallax), but it's pricey. Especially if I add the extra 8" which seems like a smart move as 48 inches x 3 shelves would probably allow me to get rid of my other shelf. Ironically, this company appears to be based out of Chicago.

Pretty sure I've posted here before about these very customizable shelving options from Lundia (for those of you looking at various options). They don't offer the kind of contribution to decor that characterizes some of the recent examples posted, but for straightforward, sturdy shelving that can hold lots of records, they're great. Here's a link: Solid Wood Bookcases I went with 15-inch shelving. Dug up this photo I assume I've posted here before.

Their website is kinda of confusing to navigate. It appears all of the shelves are 84' tall, correct? I did you go with 48' long (I know you said 15' deep) or combine two that are 48' long. I'd lean towards the later if I were to go this route.

The other option I'm considering, was suggested by @MikeH and involves getting 2 of these three tier shelves MapleShade. I'm not crazy about the unfished oak look, but could always add a finish myself. They also have modulars which I found a photo of on Reddit.

Edit--

Hmm they have a 4 shelf version that looks less modular but if I get two, I could put books on the bottom to prevent the LP's from being right on the ground and I'd have plenty of storage. Added a fitted top and a base, it would come to 1750ish for two of them. Wild how expensive this shit is, but that also feels like the best bang for your buck that I'm going to find.

Yeah, 84” tall. I went with a 36” and a 30” wide that I put side-by-side.

FWIW, Mapleshade prices include shipping which can’t be cheap for these heavy pieces of furniture. I bought them probably 7 or so years ago and they were half the price

I have the Ambrosia maple finish and they look nice.

These stack to create whatever size you need. I also have the walnut inlays

The ones you listed are probably better deal

Thinking more and more about adding one of these to my room around tax return season:

There are two other sizes/variations of it as well. Basically, it's a way to add a little bit of storage and get my hi-fi and HT setups away from each other.

Rear wall: couch, me
Right wall: TT/phono/amp
Left wall: Kallax but eventually one of these? https://www.symbolaudio.com/products/usm-vinyl-storage-cabinet-x3
Front wall: speakers, HT stuff

Now I just need to rob a bank or something to pay for it al.

That's definitely a bold vibe. Feels like a shelf that would be in the background of a QT movie

Well the game plan was to grab one of the USM x Symbol vinyl storage options at some point this year, but the record stand version adds a little bit of storage while also giving my turntable et al its own space. So kind of a two birds one stone thing.

Look up "USM Haller" on pinterest or google or insta or wherever, they're great. Ghost has one here and I plan to rob them next time I'm in NYC.

@Ghost isn’t this the stuff you use?
