So glad I got this as the 2LP pressing sounds amazing. The Cure were always my step-sister's favourite band and I never got into them as much as her but I love this...
Art Pepper – Friday Night At The Village Vanguard (Contemporary, 1980 First Pressing)
I always think Art Pepper is criminally underrated. He had such a distinctive sound and I just love it. I picked this album up at a local shop on a whim a while ago now. The also had 'Thursday Night...' and 'Saturday Night...' but for a reason I cant remember I just picked this up. I should of bought the set as its just a killer session!
Art Pepper - Meets The Rhythm Section (Contemporary, 1967 First Mono Pressing)
Pepper learnt of this recording date the morning he was due to record it and he had never met the side-men for the date (all of which were legendary and greatly admired by the saxophonist). He hadn't played for ages and his instrument was in bad shape, with the reed rotting in the mouth piece, but even with all these hurdles he still managed to record one of the greatest jazz albums.
