Huh, I had no idea this was a thing. And it’s a covers album?

Yeah, it is alright. I really enjoy both so I picked it up. It isn’t essential obviously but Tortoise lays down some nice thick grooves and Oldham adds his unique takes, worth a listen and if you come across a good copy for a fair price (I think I picked it up for like $14 used like a decade ago) it’s fun record.

You like Huey Lewis & The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

I've just learned about the horrible events of police brutality in Minneapolis and other cities. It's sad that people are still not being treated equally just because they have a different race, sexual preference, religious view or whatever. It made me remember what Beyonce once had written on her homepage: ""It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they 'stop killing us,'".

Being a white German, thus just viewing from the outside, I just hope that there will be an end to any racism and instead more equality and respect towards everybody.
