Patti Smith - Easter
McCoy Tyner - Fly With The Wind
I think I prefer Easter to Horses. Great stuff in any case. And I don't really like orchestral jazz but this Japanese pressing was dirt cheap and McCoy Tyner is just on fire with it.
The Red Mitchell Harold Land Quintet - Hear Ye!!!! Hear Ye!!!! (Atlantic, 1962 First Sample/Promo Pressing)
Yesterday would have been Red Mitchell's 94th birthday. This album has always stood out to me and im surprised its not considered more desirable, as its a killer session.
Johnny Dankworth, His Orchestra And Guests - What The Dickens! (Fontana, 1963 First Signed Pressing)
Turns out yesterday would also have been the 94th birthday of Sir Johnny Dankworth. This album is an absolute blinder, honestly one of the best big band albums that I have heard. Once you look past the cheesy cover art and themes I guarantee there will be at least 1 moment that blows you away. The line-up is insane and includes the likes of Tubby Hayes, Ronnie Scott, Ronnie Ross, Dick Morrissey, Vic Ash, Jimmy Deuchar and Kenny Wheeler. Phew!
