The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#128: Freddie Hubbard - Sky Dive

This Hubbard stands out among his other fusion records of the era, and, depending on the day, I will sometimes pick it above First Light. Some of the tracks are funkier than his other records, while some are more straight-forward hard bop, all with the lush arrangements CTI was known for at the time. An interesting fact is that Keith Jarrett plays on this record, which is an unusual pairing, and what's even more unusual is his playing of electric piano at this point in his career after he had left Miles's band.

Yours sound good?

I ran across a copy of this in a old box of vinyl I got somewhere. Needless to say I was praising my good fortune. Cover is good shape. Vinyl looked NM- like new but it was severely damaged. Very noisy and it has groove damage. Basically unplayable.

Yep, sounds great. I’ve definitely run across a few like you mentioned, though. I got a perfect-looking copy of GD Shakedown Street a while back that sounded unbelievably terrible. I was thinking someone played it with a damaged stylus or something.

Your description of the bad one is the mirror image of mine. I couldn’t bring myself to toss it but I plan to give it away.

Glad you found a good one. Looks to potentially be a good pressing.
