What's Spinning

Kathryn Williams - Dog Leap Stairs

When I first saw Kathryn Williams live, she was supported by this unheard-of Irishman. His amp broke so he did almost his entire set with just his voice and guitar at the front of stage. It was the first time I saw Damien Rice and still the best time. Kathryn Williams afterwards was great. She was somewhat well known from winning the Mercury Music Prize for her second album, but this is her first. I had two others but only just got this off Discogs. Recorded for just £80, it sounds great.

King Princess - Cheap Queen

Picked this up a few weeks ago but only just got around to washing it. Sounds fantastic. Noise floor is almost imperceptible.

Definitely some IGD on Prophet, which is a bummer.

Experience Unlimited - Free Yourself (Black Fire, 2019 VMP Essentials Pressing)

Still cant believe how crazy it is that Cameron stumbled across this album on discogs and was intrigued enough to play in by the cover alone.......I kid of course. Still a VERY strange pick for a so called Essentials sub, but its certainly grown on me and has some really funky tracks (Free Yourself just builds and builds into a monster track!)

Getting back to the backlog of soundtracks...

I may need to watch this movie again...but I can't say I like it as much as most people do. This soundtrack is really good, though.

So happy to be spinning this classic! The soulful, big-stage, irresistibly catchy opener “Gimme Shelter” always played on the classic rock station when I was working at the BMW warehouse! So weird for it to now be playing on my turntable! This pressing also sounds incredible!!! 💎🕺

Those clear reissues sound great. The other reissues, not so much.
